GH2 Why do these cameras record poor natural greens

Yes compared to a Canon DSLR i owned my current GH2s green grass etc is poor in respect of accuracy, far more resolution but but worse green, browns are best but i think i shall have to revert to a camcorder with good color,i would not go back to Canon DSLRs they have too many other foibles.

I actually love the greens from the GH2.... You can modify the white balance spectrum to cool or warm the greens a little toward what your eyes are seeing. I often use the vibrant setting, then desaturate a little in post if needed, but have lush colors if I want to... In the end it all comes down to personal taste and individual color perception.

I've always felt that the GH2 has inferior color sampling than the Canons, which usually looks gorgeous straight out of the camera. The GH2 on occasion will produce downright nauseating results, in the same environment. Nothing a little post can't fix, but still, a frustration. Have yet to test out the GH3 to see if it is an improvement.

Chris,

I've never experienced this issue. However, for exteriors usually shoot: Vivid, +1 Saturation, polarizer, and in very bright sun -1/3 exposure. I sometimes use a Panasonic TM700 camcorder, and it struggles to equal GH2 color quality.

Good luck...

Thanks Dan i dont know if cams & cameres vary but in vivid mode my GH2 even set with a fairly - low setting has a very oversaturated color,i have spent a lot of time in the past 2 years plus trying to get nice natural looking green to no avail.
Yes i have tried to modify the white balance spectrom like troelskirk suggests with no improvement,i have to agree with ras815,i love the many films you have shown and probobly filming in the areas you film mostly my color would look far better for me,where i am most of the countyside is vividly green,so i have to decide whether to keep my GH2 and 6 lenses or get a camcorder, the trouble being there are so many to choose from,as i said i like canon DSLR color but would not go back to one,i dont like the mov h264 format or their low resolution video.Keep making those great films,Chris
