Why can't they just make a plain ol' single-flavored gum anymore?

It's all "Passionberry Twist BLAST!!!" and "Mango Kumquat Hangover" and the like.

Why not just . . . "grape"?

I buy gum by the box, you know the case that the they have in the shop that usually holds about 24 cases or 500 individual gums (usually spearmint)... in the end all the akward flavours gums only last 10 seconds and then leave an awful taste that always is the same....and make you want more and more....

LOL...I'm a spearmint man as well. When I was a kid I was addicted to Big League Chew, which when you look at it now is just wrong, because its clearly designed to mimic chewing Tobacco.

we also had candy cigarettes.

And bubble-gum cigars! (when I was a kid I really liked those... I remember taking off the band... and the light powder that was on 'em... so they'd keep loose in the little plastic wrapper... green, pink, or yellow)... I'm overcome with childhood candy memories, but I don't want to derail the thread.

For the record, I'm firmly convinced that "blue razzberry" (proper spelling "raspberry") marked the downfall of the traditional flavoring system. I think that's about the time the world mysteriously decided to hand society over to spoiled children... damn blue razzberry!!!!

Noticed that the candy cigarettes now just say CANDY. No mention of "cigarettes" anymore. Still, the box and what's inside are clearly cigarettes. Sugar smoke used to come out of them. Fruit Stripe!!!

Mmm! Ohh...

How appropriate that I blew my 5000th post on a comment for Fruit Stripe gum. It bordered on a religious experience, and then it was over.

Thing is, no matter how many more times you chew that Fruit Stripe stuff it will never recapture the high of that very first time...
