I’m going to see it on Sunday in San Diego. Its playing at AMC La Jolla at 10:30am. Perfect late morning movie. Have to support this movie since the AF-100 has served me so well. Thanks for bringing this to the community!
As an AF100 film, I would love to discuss the way they shot this film. It was interesting to say the least. Did I miss the celebration of this film as a testament to the viability of the m4/3 format as a legitimate choice for feature film production especially in the action with visual effects genre?
I have been looking forward to this film for some time. I had no idea it was shot with the Af100, all I knew was that people have been raving about it as a classic of the genre.
I never even thought to look up the camera even when I heard the director mention the image break up in low light scenes in this interview:

It really does go to show that image quality really isn't everything.
But I did see some horrendous noise issues in lower light scenes, and many times on skin as well which I found annoying. But I'm pretty sure non-filmmakers would never take notice, or just think it's just how film looks.
Thank you pharpsied for pointing this out! Just purchased my AF100, and have been reading/watching my AF100 Book and DVD. Excited about watching this movie. It's playing locally! Was supposed to watch, "Wrath of the Titans" w/ the wifey this weekend but after reading this thread, I told her instead we're watching, "The Raid: Redemption" and she said, "Huh? What's that? Are you for real?"![]()
This, I think, is our burden. We know too much. See too much. We get inside and forget to just watch. We critique all of the time and lose the simple joy of just watching... That's why I did the audience poll thing. I wanted to know what unburdened people thought, and they loved it, and so did I.
Thanks for pointing this film out. I love my AF100. I never had a single complaint. I realized early on that non-filmmakers don't care about pixels, sensor sizes, etc. If you put something compelling on the screen, they'll love it. No matter what it is shot on.

Just got back from seeing The Raid. It was great! Yes some issues with noise and the final scene on the stairs was washed out. Might have had some post issues. The opening shots looked great and those where really dark which makes me think they had some settings mishaps as opposed to camera issues. but like what most people said it didn’t take away from the action. Big thumbs up!
The fighting action is crazy good. I’m a little exhausted.
inspiring to see a feature-length film from the AF100 up on the big screen, definitely a confidence booster for those of us trying to do the same
