Why are the files from the R5/R6 harder to edit than the same from the C70?

Ok, both cameras set to mp4 4K HEVC 10 bit 422. Both are Long GOP as far as I know. On my new PC, the C70 files scan and scrub on the timeline like butter. Amazingly well. The R6 files work well, but nowhere near as good as the C70. hey are virtually the same, right? Any idea why the C70 files work so much better?

(For those PC editors who don't know, the 11th and current 12th-gen Intel processors can have an integrated GPU that works in tandem with your dedicated GPU card to add hardware acceleration to certain codecs, including HEVC 10 bit 422. Makes it a joy to edit the newer 4K Canon codecs. If building a new PC, make sure to get a current gen intel that does NOT have an F in the model. F means the CPU does NOT have the integrated GPU.)

Maybe a difference in bit rates?

If they are definitely equal and not like one is 4:2:2 and the other is 4:2:0, and both are HEVC and the C70 isn't set to XF-AVC, and both are .MOV or .MP4 then I would think they should equally handle well, but maybe there are some deep differences that aren't really known about.

That bit is actually rather crucial. Perhaps you should look into that.

I'm comparing the R5 (I don't have an R6) and C70 on my laptop, and I don't see a clear difference. However, that doesn't mean much; maybe the laptop is just not on the edge of fast enough as another system might be.

However, bear in mind that these codecs are extremely complex. Valid HEVC from two different cameras might be encoded quite differently. And the R cameras have a completely different OS than the C70.
