ON A MAC!
Ok,
please forgive me for the probably often ask question, but I want current information on that:
I´m only using G_raids so far for streaming DV50 from the HVX, but they´re pretty heavy.
So I was thinking maybe small 2,5" USB drives could be sufficient for that (they are easier to obtain than firewire drives for me...)
Could you list your setups please and if they it ever failed you? ( eg MBP 15" with LaCie rugged)
Thanks fo your help!

If you are using a laptop (PC) in order to download you P2 content, then you can use a 2.5" USB powered HD.

I have done it and no problems.

But I do have a better arrangement, I Use DV rack HD in a Pavillion Laptop, with an PCMCIA Sata card, hooked to a 2.5 Self powered Sata HD (made by myself)

I made a device with an Ipod 12 to 5v charger, an 3 Ah 12 volts Acid battery, a 80 GB Sata HD, a 2.5" Sata - USB housing (I used just the connectors piece) and a plastic box.

This has become a must in my production gear!!!

I Have another equal but with Fire Wire instead of Sata, for download directly from my HVX.

Thanks Erdiaz,
but I was in a hurry and forgot to write I´m using a MacBookPro...!
I´m prety sure USB2.0 on a PC ain´t a problem for SD, but as far as I know USB integration on the MAC isn´t that good, at least for high traffic rates...
So,
who´s recording to USB on a MAC...?

don't worry, this assembly works the same with Fire wire 2.5" housings!!! this kind of housing comes the same as the one showed but with a Fire Wire Input instead of sata. (to connect to your Mac)
The sata card comes in a Mac version too.

Just connect the FW cable to the FW inputs and the USB 5 volts to the DC input of your HD.

WOW!
Unfortunately, when it comes to building electronic stuff I REALLY suck...
But you should post this in the DIY section!
Thanks!
