Who do you write like?

Put up a Callapoem, and got this...

I write like
Dan Brown

Edit:

Then; put up a screenplay bit, and got:

I write like
James Joyce

(You know, I like this Iwritelike cat.)

i submitted two philosophy papers, got James Joyce and David Foster Wallace.

an economics paper yielded David Foster Wallace.

a bit of a script got me Chuck Palahniuk.

Apparently I started out writing like Dan Brown, then I wrote like Stephen King for a while, and now I write like Margaret Atwood.

No idea what basis they use to determine these things, especially considering how fast it is with bringing you your result, but my matches were H. P. Lovecraft and Margaret Atwood.

I discovered this site the other day, and almost every time I got Wallace or Joyce. After trying it with about fifteen different texts, the only other authors that came up were Douglas Adams and Arthur C. Clarke (Adams 2-1 Clarke).

although i'm sure it's not absolutely random, i think the program works kinda like the grammar-checker in Word.

Just for kicks, I tried excerpts from 8 different scripts and got 8 different authors. No rhyme nor reason...

I thought I'd try some other texts out... and this is what I got:

The Book of Genesis is written like Edgar Allen Poe...
Edgar Allen Poe (The Raven) writes like HP Lovecraft...
HP Lovecraft (The Call of Cthulhu) writes like Jack London...

and Jack London writes like Jack London no matter what excerpt I seem to put in there.

:)

^ Perhaps this means Jack London wrote Genesis. Of course, he was accused of plagiarism a number of times, so maybe not.

I put up three different articles got three different names, so uh, I write like everybody.
