So I've been thinking that it would be really cool to make a short (like 90 sec.) video introducing myself, bio kind of thing or whatever. There are a lot of posts on the dvx screen grabs/ clip forum but I have not seen who anyone is and there story. The requirements would be that you make the video solo and introduce yourself in a short 90 sec bio. What do you think?
A positive response might encourage me to do one.

That sounds like an awesome idea. Doing that would give me a chance to test out all of the crap, I mean, useful production gear I've been accumulating. Much more interesting than filming the trees. (I'm in Texas now; there are no trees.)

I hear you. I'm in Arizona and just prepping to do a documentary. Need to get out and just mess around with the "stuff", with no serious importance.

Marlene is that you? Just kidding, I think that is a great idea. Maybe even a dedicated section for it in the forum?
 
I love the idea.

The coolest thing would be to include something unique about your place in the world... like I may say hi to you guys in front of the Arch.

If you have those giant catuses (cacti?) in your backyard then I'd like to see a quick peak of your view as you tell me about yourself in 60 seconds.*



*In 90 seconds I could tell you my entire life story... I'm not that complex.
 
Matt- If you could head to the WU campus and do something, hmmmm, inappropriate I would really appreciate it. :)

Ya know.... I take those "giant cactus" for granted....they're called Saquaro and they grow everywhere in my "backyard", but I've never seen the Arch in St. Louis.

And I thought 90 seconds was short, guess I'm a little older than you. I have a lot of "been there, done that" in my life.

Just don't pronounce the "g" in Saguaro. :) My mother-in-law still does and I don't really know how to bring it up in a converstation without getting in trouble. :)

I think it's a great idea Marlene, but I'm going to need at least 5 minutes, because I'm so interesting.....OK, that's not true...I'll take 15 seconds.
 
How about a still image and a caption?
I'm pretty sure my entire existence could somehow be captured in a Far Side cartoon.

:grin: You name it. I'd do anything for Norm Mcdonald anyway (I see your avatar... clearly it's really YOU Norm! I'm a big fan!) Seriously it's funny... under these conditions it wouldn't take too much for me to do something stupid in an attempt to impress a group of total internet strangers... er, buddies.

Ironically enough I could probably get inside anyplace on the entire campus... we have another STL member on these boards who is very well regarded around WU! I've shot video with him a few times... I'm SURE he'd help me with any WU vandalis... uh tomfoolery.

Curses! My true identity has been revealed! You're not the first person to call me Norm MacDonald -- I can do his voice pretty well, too. I get Vince Vaughn a lot from my wife, but I think that's just to make me happy.

I'll have to start concepting on WU-taunting ideas.

Jeez... that even sounds like Norm. Now I know it's you! Why in the hell would you want to be Vince instead? That's nutty.

Okay before this thread dies... is anybody going to actually DO one of these videos we're talking about?

A year or two ago I propositioned everybody to shoot some stock footage of their part of the world... then we could all put it in a media pool... and it would be free rights to members. The only restriction would be that you had to contribute to the pool to pull from the pool. With a little special courtesy you could even shoot in a way that suited a special request... meaning not just slow pans and locked down shots... but crawling shots and lockdowns of special locations... like a lockdown of the capitol in a day and night setting... you know, stuff like that.

Anyway... lots of people thought it was a great idea... but nobody would ever take the time to get it off the ground.

That's why I praise anybody who takes the time and trouble to post video... and I don't mean linking somebody elses video... I mean making a video for the purpose of posting.
 
Nice idea! Let's make a 90'' short spot about ourselves!
Film-like if possible!
Nice idea to train while waiting for more complex projects.
 
I know Sci-Fest is currently in full swing, but how about a (much much shorter, and low key) "Bio-fest" next?
60 sec (no more, no less) to tell about yourself in the most creative way possible. Simple as that.

I wouldn't have suggested it if I wasn't open to doing it....hmmm....sounds like something I said on a first date once. Anyway I'm thinking how I may want to approach this and then I'll get started. Trying to rearrange this weekends schedule to fit some time in for this, but things always seem to get screwed up when it comes to either time or money.

"Bio-fest"..... I like that!
