Hey you all,

here's a little short film that was shot with DVX100 in April 2011. Feel free to comment or anything, hope you enjoy it!

Synopsis:
He has always been here and he will always be here. He calls himself the creator of everything. He has the hunger to create more and more but he feels unsure of his creations and is being pulled into this place we call world to observe his achievements. Maybe there's something he can learn.

Thanks

the music/news-sound mix is good.

how come you wait 55 seconds before showing an image ?

1:13 so this guy got "dropped" from out of space somewhere ? Or the future ? or the past ? That's not very clear here.

Don't know if you had a soundguy during shooting, but it would be nice if you had one to have footsteps, breathings etc...

It's not because there's no dialogue there are no other sounds.

I think this could be 3minutes max in stead of 8 minutes

The location is a nice setting, image-wise it's also nice

Thanks for the feed!

The main reason for the 55 seconds without an image, is to give the person a chance to create his/her own visions and imagery of the "world".
The guy "dropped" from wherever you want, it might also make it a little bit clearer with the synopsis (I also posted that on the top).

And yea there was a soundguy, but there are reasons why the whole thing is without footstep or any natural sound. I guess soundwise it's a matter of opinion, since this was meant to be an "art-film".

If the reason is subjective then I'm ok with it. It was more that if it would have been to hide "mistakes" I would say different...

I like experimental work like this. I love that you shoot an old dvx, and make it look fantastic, so many people get caught up in the latest and greatest camera game, and never shoot a damn thing, their whole M,O, is to build an impressive rig, then shoot nothing but tests, and never produce any content.

I also like how you made it in to parts, my only wish was that part 2, would have been in a completely different location, I also agree 55 seconds is wayyyyy to long without an image, even if it's just a light beam, or some cool bokah shot, I was eager to see something by 15 seconds. yes the internet has made us all very impatient. lol overall nice work, i likey.

Haha thanks, internet is is the worst!

To be honest this was a test, cause I really wanted shoot something and try to make it look as good as possible with no money. And there's nothing like dvx footage, eventho I've got a bit better camera nowadays.

Well, I don't know but people are not going to read synopsis...

If I watch a film i certainly will read a little bit what it is about, but then I want to see that also in the film. For example even if in a short explain about a film (in tv guides or so) is written "Uncle Sam is the strongest man in the world", it's better to see him benching a piece of steal or so. So that we "believe" it.

Here for example you could let him do something....creative. He closes his hands, opens them and suddenly there's a pigeon...

I kinda agree with dre, even tho I respect an unorthodox approach. I think its better the tell the story through images and dialogue rather than having the viewer read about it. Is there any reason why the main character was wearing black and white? Over all I thought it was good. And the shots where well composed.

It's important to be straight forward who the character is. If I daught about it (is he from the future ??? the past ??? an hidden alien ??? the new president ???) then I'm going to make my "own" story and if then at then somewhere certain scenes are not the way I expected them...I get lost... no more attention...go to the fridge etc...

Well everyone has a choice whether to read synopsis or not, and then decide how to react or think.

It's important to be straight forward who the character is...

And now we're getting to the point, the whole idea was that viewer decides who the character is. If I had pointed out that he's an alien you would expect him to do or act in a certain way, or to have tenticles appearing from nowhere. Since I haven't pointed it out it's all your choice.

Is there any reason why the main character was wearing black and white?

And no, there's no particular reason. Hadn't even thought about that before.
