SHORT: White Rose

Whoa, it's my very first film, go a bit easy on me. I just want to learn, I thought thats what this forum was about. Could be nice and tell me how I could improve, oh well

thought thats what this forum was about.

That is what this forum is about. Some can be - shall we say - less tactful than others. I personally found it a very credible effort, especially a first effort. There are technical issues sure, but at least you started with a story to tell. (Puts you way ahead of many). Don't let the terseness get you down. I would venture part of it comes from how basic the issues. Framing and camera angles are to a certain point subjective, things like white balance and camera shake are not. This is not a place to come and have smoke blown, but there is an incredible amount of info here for the taking. Take heart that you have chosen to hone your skills by doing. Takes a bit of courage and a thick skin but infinitely more rewarding.

Peace and welcome to the forum.

Yes but its the only way to learn, i was almost eaten alive and criticized by someone long time ago and its because of him i started to research and seek for more knowledge.I would thank him today but back then i was so angry at him.
I would like*HarryN7 videos to look great, dont get me wrong.IMO Its not good to tell people that its OK when its still a long way to learn.
Friends saying "awesome!" when they see your vid arent really helping you, theyre only making it worse.
But that is just me.
HarryN7 I cant tell how you can improve rendering, you had issue there with 2 frames in one probably recorded clip was 24p and you exported it at 30, i dont know, dont have any idea what software youre using, so its not easy to help like that but watch out for white balance especially, you have something to learn and its a good thing, dont give up by any means !
*It takes courage to put your stuff here on internet for people to see but always remember that people will criticize no matter if you like it or not, so you should work out attitude for this and dont be bothered , if people are criticizing that means they want your work to be better.

Pro tip: it is extremely hard to get feedback at all from strangers or industry people (as opposed to friends and family). This is the norm: you send out tons and tons of DVDs or links to videos to all sorts of people - agents, producers, executives. You get this much response of any kind: zero. I have friends who are execs, agents, and producers. They all have piles and piles of unsolicited DVDs sitting all over their offices, or stashed away by their assistants. How often to they go through these piles? All the way through - never. At best, they'll pick a DVD here and there, maybe 1%. It is the same experience with getting a response to the screenplay you write, if you are not already a represented writer. This is an industry truism: it is extremely hard to get anyone in the industry to read your screenplay or look at your DVD. I know one thing for sure - you have not had to ask for your stuff to be seen/read by industry folk... because if you did, pretty quickly, you'd realize how extraordinarily lucky you are to get any response at all, for anyone at all to read/see your stuff. You will beg and plead to be read/seen - and you will rarely, very rarely have anyone oblige. Very, very rarely.

So when you do get a response, as you got here, this is what you do: get down on your knees and cry with joy and sing praises of gratitude. Because you've just been done an enormous favor. And should you be so lucky - so very, very lucky, and I mean lottery-winner lucky, to get negative criticism, somebody who doesn't simply fob you off with a "nice", or "OK", or "great going, kid", but actually takes the time to give you legitimate and HONEST criticism, well, you should pop some champagne, because you just won the lottery. That is gold. G.O.L.D.

You are clearly young. You have not had the heartbreak of experience and have not tasted the bitter fruit of industry reality: utter and complete indifference to your existence. I know you are huge - number one - in your world. But in the outside world... you finish the thought.

How you now react, will determine your fate. Tread carefully. Good luck!

Another thing is the sound: sound is everywhere, and always there. When he changes the cd track for example, it sounds to clean. A sound designer could make it sound like it sounds inside a car, out of carspeakers. And would add some other ambiance sounds so you don't have "holes".

Music is ok...But a movie without music is much better then adding music, just to add music and to hide the bad recorded sound (which in 99,99% of "new movies" is the case). Besides music there are a lot of other sounds that can make your movie great.

A large distraction for me in the audio. Around 5:57, actress voice goes soft and you here a toilet flush in the background? Yet they are outside staring at the stars, what's up with that? Then there is echo in her voice as if it were being dubbed in an attempt to fix.
