white balance

This may sound really stupid but I've been wondering this for a long time:

There is WB preset A, B and Auto white balance...but.. Is there any way to adjust the white balance manually, without auto white balance? When i'm not pleasant with the balanced result I wish i could just manually change the temperature... is this somehow possible?

Just set your setting to either A or B and put a white card or paper in front of the subject or lights, zoom into the card and push the auto white balance. Make sure the card is not overexposed. This will white balance all of your lights. This is how you manually white balance. You can change your color temperature in the settings inside the camera too if you want it to be warmer or cooler.

I hope this answers your question.

Don't use any old white piece of paper unless it's an emergency. Paper is generally somewhat translucent, and the heavier premium paper that is not (stuff like photo paper) has UV modifiers in it.

A 18% gray card may or may not give you a neutral white balance -- most are meant for setting exposure, not white balance. They guarrantee (more or less) that they reflect 18% of the light, not that they reflect red, green and blue in equal proportions.

You should really use a white balance target designed specifically for that purpose.
