Hey,according to my mannual..the prestet button is supposed to display what preset is currently in use...the way i understand it is that when i push the button to preset it'll immediately show what im on and then when i press AWB it'l change it to the other right?all this time displaying it on the screen right?

Well mine isn't showing a thing..might there be something that switches it off or something?

First, make sure that you are set up for manual white balance control.

Second, where is the WB switch on the side of the camera? If it's on A or B, that means that it is waiting for you to balance to a white card. The last manual white balance will be stored in that switch's position (A or B), which means that you can store two custom presets and quickly switch back and forth. This is handy if you are moving from interior to exterior, or between two rooms with drastically different lighting, or from sun to shade. With the switch at either A or B, you need to point the camera at a white card, zoom it to fill the frame, and hold down the AWB button until "AWB OK" shows on the LCD screen.

To use the AWB to switch back and forth between 3200K and 5600K, the switch needs to be on PRST.

And you can do some really cool stuff with your A and B presets. Try white balancing with a lighting gel over the lens... extreme gel colors create some pretty extreme color balances. Or you can go subtle... a little 1/8 or 1/4 CTB on the lens can create a warm balance, or use CTO for a cool balance.

how come when im on PRST it doesnt show if im on 3200k or 5600k?thot its supposed to show when i press AWB button?

It'll show the value if you select "all" in the display settings menu; it doesn't show it if you choose "partial" or "none".

It will show it when you press the AWB button to toggle the preset.
