hello everyone, looking to see how to white balance in a controlled set..the shot will be of a subject that will have soft box lights 6500k pointed at him ,tjhe key light will have a blue gel on it for an effect, so he will have a shade of light blue on him, now do i white balance to the 6500k before the gel? or do i white balance after the gel is added? thanks

I always wondered what was better between making a white balance for every scene, or using a preset color temperature...
Otherwise yes make your white balance on lights that you want to appear white, if you add your color gels, your camera will try to make them white as well.

Just a question : does the in camera WB settings matters when shooting RAW ?
Thanks :)

Well it's always a good habit to set the WB to match your scene. But as you know, RAW image WB can be reset in post. Of course the original question was regarding video capture not stills. :)

Also you may want to shoot a color chart for each set up. This can be of great help later depending upon how you want to match looks.

I tend to balance by eye most of the time. Inputing a K value and using the Yellow-Blue/Green-Magenta crosshair to fine tune. Works great for me.
