Hi everyone,

Im getting a c100 and I'd still like to transcode my footage, why? well... without getting too much into it, I have an older computer and when i transcode I could edit faster, will upgrade soon. Im using adobe premiere cc. So I will like to know which transcoders are you using and which ones are the "best" for c100 footage to pro res.

Thanks.

I sometimes use Davinci Resolve 10 Lite as a simple transcoder. It may seem like killing a fly with a shotgun, but it's not really. All you have to do is right click on any footage in the media pool to transcode. It will create a subfolder and place the transcoded files in it. You don't have to actually edit, color or export anything within Resolve. It's free, time code is maintained, the processing is 32-bit float, and the quality is a bit better than Adobe Media Encoder CC.

I use 5dtoRGB. It's solid.

Also love that you can feed it 2997 and 5994 footage and specify 2997 to be the final output for all files (so slow motion looks like slow motion). Not relevant on the C100, but great on the GH3/4.

Try 5DtoRGB when you're done with ClipWrap.

Before I got my Ninja Blade, 5DtoRGB was what got me my best chromakey, my best GVs, my best results when getting another editor to process my work.

Anyone used Adobe Prelude? I'm thinking of using it on an upcoming documentary shoot (long duration, lot's of footage to organise) and I see it's got transcode as well. Edry, if you have Creative Cloud then you've already got it.
