Just wondering which ones.

Avid, but what version?

Canopus, but what version?

I'm a Mac user, but I just want to learn about the competition.

thanks

Avid XPress Pro HD, also.

I'm using Premiere Pro with Ciniform Prospect HD and I'm very very happy with it.

"Natively", meaning direct import of MXF to the timeline? Matrox Axio (PPro2) will in just a quick couple of months...it's in beta now and was demoed at NAB.

"Natively", meaning streaming 720/24,30,60p from the camera via 1394? Matrox Axio does it now.

Raylight conversion of MXF until then. The HVX is seen as a USB2 device on PCs. File transfer via USB2, stream transfer via 1394 on PCs.

While I like Edius at the moment (still exploring), the Cineform people have made it possible for fans of Premiere and Sony Vegas to do their editing magic.

Big change from even a couple of months ago, when the only choices available were Avid and FCP.

Canopus EDIUS Broadcast (any version) will let you import an MXF file straight to the timeline and play it back in realtime.

Avid XPress Pro HD does as well, I think you need version 5.2.1 or later. You import files through the Media Tool and can then drop them on the timeline.

Avid Liquid will (I believe) support standard-def MXF files dropped from the card onto the timeline. Not 100% sure, I've never used Liquid, but I believe this is how it works. Standard-def only, no support for DVCPRO-HD.

That is correct.

I can't say which one just yet, but I had to let you guys know there is a great Editor that will be out soon which will support the MXF files and ANY resolution in/out on the same timeline.

I've been holding my toung for a while since the company doesn't like announcing vaprorware and they asked me to hold off a little longer. I like companies like that!!!
But I just had to let you know about this REAL TIME speedy editor that will be giving us a solution.

Technically, Avid Xpress Pro 5.0 (the first one refered to as HD) can work with the native MXF files but I wouldn't recommend anything less than 5.2 as 5.0 was buggy as hell.

Ted- is it fair to assume, because this thread is about PC NLE's, that the product you can't tell us about will be for a Windows platform?

The dog always makes me ask those "duh" questions . . . thanks!
