which mode for upcoming wedding?

Hi everyone,

I was hoping to get some quick advice from you guys. My daytime wedding is being shot in about a month with 2 HVXs and I am trying to figure out which mode would be the best for the guys to shoot in. Figured there is so much great experience here on the board it would be great to see what you think. I will be doing the editing myself on my Avid system at home.

I don't really like the harsh video look (and how could it look that great for a wedding imo?) so I've pretty much eliminated 1080i/60i. In doing some tests a year ago with a hdcam camera I didn't love the '24' look that much but I did love the progressive look. Also I will also probably be mixing in some DV footage (will have one static cam setup at the back of the room) into the timeline. Although I do have a friend with a DVX100 and could setup that cam at 24pa and then I could go true 24 (23.989.

So I guess I'm thinking: 720P/30P, 720P/30pn, 720p/60p, 1080i/24p, or 1080i/30p.
I know that 720P/24pn is nice because you get the longer shoot times, but that might make post tricky with the possible DV footage right?

Can anybody help me narrow down the choices? I am going to rent a HVX tonight and shoot in different modes to test.... but what do you guys think?

thanks so much,
-Peter B

Shot a couple in 720/24pn and clients loved them.

Only issue for you is DV footage?

How are you going to handle that?

Well I figured I would either have it shot in 30P (or some sort of 24p over 30p) or I would maybe try to use the DVX in 24pa mode and extract the 24 frames so I could mix the 2 in the timeline. any further thoughts?
