Which HDV Tapes do you use?

Panasonic professional quality, which you can get here:

http://lacolorshop.com/

for only $15 per box of 5. It's not my webpage, but it's run by a mod from another board that is also on here. I've bought them before. Good and fast.

"HDV" tape is probably one of the biggest scams running. These companies deliberately bullshit you with the promise that these tapes are "better" without any objective data so they'd get to charge you a premium for it. I'd really would like to see some studies done to see how reliable these "HD" tapes supposedly are. I started out using the Sony's HDV and over the course of a year and many tapes I've had just as much dropout as the regular Panasonic tapes that I now use.

Yes yes.. that's me!! here! here!

I shoot weddings with multicams (3 cameras). Each full day wedding I got about 15 to 20 tapes. I exclusively use Panasonic PQ type. The next up is the AMQ type which is $6.5 a pop, too expensive. PQ tape is great in quality vs price.

It has nothing to do with "vivid color". That's based on your camera/sensor, not the tape =)
