which hack for seemless spaning on a 32gb class 10 sandisc sdhc1 card

Hi all love the forum

i have a hacked gh1 that has the following firmware on it from ipowell

100Mbps Max Latitude Native 24/25p Patch

I tried to record in HD mjpeg and after the default file size limit is met the camera simply stops recording it will not span to another file and continue recording. Is there a hack out there which i can use that will allow flawless file spanning.

in avchd mode (full hd 1080 the camera reports 59 minutes of footage (before the file size limit is hit) so its not such a problem (i haven't tested it to see if it will span (will test this week though)

thanks to all in advance

toolman.

No, there is no hack to span the 2GB MJPEG limit. That is set in the camera, and you just have to stop and start shooting again. Not sure why the limit is there-but it is, and there isn't a hack to remove it.
in AVCHD you have the FAT32 file size limit of 3.9GB. However, the camera should simply create another file after that one, and continue shooting. AVCHD is very good with the overlap and you shouldn't notice any changes when joining the two files.

Hi thanks so if i understand you mjpeg files will NOT span i.e create another file after the 2 gb file limit is set. So you have to manually start the camera recording again -
correct ?
howerver the avchd files will span after the 3.9 gb limit is reached. correct?
so what hack would you consifer to give the best quality avchd and still keep the 50 fps (pal) 60 fps (ntsc) frame rates

Thanks in advance Toolman

It holds for ORIGINAL firmware. For example, it did not work with 75Mbps lpowell patch when I took school's play, even though the actual bitrate was about 20Mbps (on Transcend class 10 card). So don't expect to span with all patches.

Correct. But, some patches don't span. Best advice is to test out the patches and make sure they span, if you need them to, before you have to shoot an event, as you don't want to miss anything.

H Ipowell quick question i seen in one of your posts that the following settings are set up for the following hack

Version 2 of the Reliable In-Camera Playback Patch
supports the following features:
* 40Mbps FHD mode - AVCHD 1920x1080 24p/25p video (interlaced) - GH1 only
* 40Mbps SH mode - AVCHD 1280x720 50p/60p video (progressive)
* 35Mbps HD mode - MJPEG 1280x720 30p video in 4:2:2 color (4:2:0 color on G2)
* 30Mbps VGA mode - MJPEG 960x720 30p video (iPad-compatible) - GH1 only

could you please be so kind to post the Mjpeg & avchd Mbps for the following 2 of your hacks

* Blackout-Powell Native 24p Patch - version 2
* 100Mbps Max Latitude Native 24/25p Patch

(just trying to create a word doc that i can print and keep with me to change settings as needed. This would make life a lot easier Keep up the great work & thanks in advance. Toolman

Hi there, firstly thanks for all the great info i have found here, i want to ask a question about spanning 1080 50i/25 files. i am using a transend class 10 16gb card, and the reliable in camera playback settings in AVCHD FHD mode. Is everyone else not able to span files or is it just me? shooting longshots of shows that i am in so i have to leave the camera to its own devices and having some difficulties...
