Which Firestore for pal 25F

So can anybody tell me please with which firestore can i work with 25f.
FCP 5 or update software is possible.

I thought the FS-C PAL model is the obvious choice. It is claimed to support 25F recording.

Can you plug the firestore into the HD output on the side of the cam? Or does it capture the equally compressed minidv HDV.

For FCP5 native 25F QT editing you'll need the FIrestore C, as it is the only one as of right now that records the HDV firewire stream in the proper QT wrapper which allows you to simply drag and drop the clips onto an HDV 1080 25P timeline. (need 5.1.2 or later for this)

For native m2t editing (Vegas, PPro) you only need to record in regular HDV m2t format with a Firestore HD, not necessarily Firestore C.

No, it's purely a firewire connection.

well the cam has to compress the footage into mpg2 to get it through the firewire interface, but it has uncompressed HD so i was just wondering if the firestore will give you a less compressed file, but it does not.

Oh, I see. Yes you'd need a capture card and a fast RAID system to take advantage of the component output. At the moment, these are not very portable, but there's new stuff being released all the time so I expect it's just a matter of waiting a while for a portable solution.

I take it you don't like HDV? For the money, I think it is fantastic quality (as long as you don't push it too far).
