Because you can't get from point a (the camera) to point b (OnLocation) at all.

Is the ScopeBox better in this respect?

http://www.divergentmedia.com/scopebox

"Not only can you monitor your video, you can capture it too. ScopeBox's recorder palette allows you to digitize your video direct to disk. Digitize your incoming signal to QuickTime movie or DV stream. And with buffered record, you'll never miss the start of the shot again. ScopeBox keeps a constant video buffer so your video begins before you even hit record"

If it's good, how to get SDI/HDMI into a Mac? Could be a nice alternative for Nano like devices.

CS5 on my fairly modest quad core, 24GB RAM, CUDA, SSD system... seriously, it's 2011, why be limited to 4GB RAM?

:O yeah, I mean just add 20 GB on top of the measly 4 ;) LOL.

Now if only I can RMA my Asus G73JH and get the newer model with a Nvidia card. It sucks that Adobe only supports Nvidia for video card acceleration. So either way though I'll be using CS5, as I have it already and being able to work natively with AVCHD is nice :)

Who's the other Smoke user here?

timeline for a music video (work in progress with the director, no time to cleanup)
20 layers of 1080p footage....still realtime, well smoke proxy-realtime but anyway.
