I will be printing to 35mm and editing on a Steenbeck.
I am primarily on FCPro, but will be trying to use Premiere CS5 more as I see a lot of sign of Apple trying to turn FCPro into a consumer product and their reliance on the antiquated QT codec is getting old.
Why not use a stand up Moviola or just a set of rewinds and viewer ?
but hwat is it i hear (in a thread somewhere in premier forum) that adobe premier doesn't render colors as well as FCP and people were complaining their renders looked crappy compared to original footage and someone said FCP has far more rendering fidelity etc etc...any truth to this anyone??Alot of editors i know are migrating to Adobe. Never thought i'd see the day they left FCP.

CS5 on my fairly modest quad core, 24GB RAM, CUDA, SSD system... seriously, it's 2011, why be limited to 4GB RAM?

You and I think eerily just alike.......just so you know.

I'm starting to see the handwriting on the wall here, feels very similar to when I left Avid for FCP (anyone remember the origina mojo?). One more release that doesn't make some major improvements and the only real hurdle left will bemy laziness at not wanting to learn new software.

Never heard that. i'll ask my friend Tom. Hes cuts on both. Perhaps he can shed some light on the subject.

This is interesting, and what I've been thinking as well. Part of my concern is compatibility and interroperability with other platforms, especially if I need to go to a professional post facility for sound design or color grading. I assume it won't be an issue. At the moment the poll shows 46% FCP and 30% Premiere Pro. That's closer than I was expecting, and doesn't take into account those that are thinking of switching from FCP to Premiere. I'm surprised that Avid is seeing so little use and was expecting Premiere and Avid to be even.
I'd like to know about this as well. Are there any other limitations to be aware of with regards to the Adobe apps? I know they don't have a color correction app like Color, which I would really miss as I'm more effective with that than Magic Bullet Looks or Colorista.
wow, that's f'ed up. I'm running a similar system but with 12 gigs of ram. 24 would be nice.
