Which DVXuser member has influenced you most?

Sometimes I wonder why we are all here(not on Earth...just this site). How we found this place...and why we keep coming back.

For me, it's the people, not the news, be it tech or otherwise. I can get that elsewhere. I really have enjoyed my experience on this site, and though i don't always make sense, and a lot of my posts aren't very helpful, there are a couple of folks out there that keep me coming back.

I have a rather short list sofar, but i'm still meeting people as my equipment as well as my preferences change, but these guys have had a part in that...whether they know it or not.

ZazaCast
Martti Eckstrand
MattinSTL
Ben Bunch
Cranky (cuz there's one in every crowd.)
Car30
Barry Green (who i didn't quite like when i signed up...i signed up just as he published his hvx200 vs xha1 test...i had just bought the a1) you're the sh!t now Barry!

Who has inspired you?

Probably Zak Forsman, because although I may not always be on the wavelength of his films, he makes them the way he wants to and with his heart, which is sadly a seldom attribute in filmmaking nowadays.

Luis Sinibaldi
Mark Johnson
Tim Hyten
Barry Green
Jack Daniel Stanley
Vidled
Jeremy Ordan

My list could be a lot longer then that... but that's the short list. Those are all people who have made a very real and positive impact on my life. I could name more, even for that list, but some of my friends may not want to be called out like this :)

Zaza-... but it wasn't a good influence. :)

No seriously-

Mark Harris
Zak F
JDS
Barry G

I have learned a ton from those guys and their posts, and I'm eternally grateful. Thanks!

While the list of people who help me on the forum are great, these members influence me because I actually WORK with them because of this site.

These folks influenced me in someway or another and I'm sure I've missed some.

Theo (Ted Arabian)
n8ture (Kevin Railsback)
Elton (Barlow Elton)
Matt Ramsaur
Dohopa Films (Brian Childs)
Herman Witkam
Barry Green (self-publishing)
billmarq (moderator buddy at other forum)

I'd have to say Zak Forsman. (wasn't always that way :) )... but, i'd use the word respect in place of "influenced"

b/c I think he is on the cutting edge of the new age of indy distribution, marketing, exposure, etc, and micro budget filmmaking. Zak could very well be laying a groundwork that many of us will use to success in the future. He's carving a path rather than following one.

Pookie- for obeying the voices, and sharing the fruits of those labors.

Jason Ramsey- for constantly trying to keep the forum scammer free.

Barry Green- because he's... Barry Green, aka The Man.

Rodney Smith inspired me to complete my first DVXfest entry.

Wait, is there gonna be a prize for most inspirational? A Cinnabon perhaps?

I'm shocked no one has mentioned Faith Grainger - Deuce of Spades thread.

For a feature micro indie type film it has to be her, some of you have no idea how hard it is to pull off a period correct movie let alone on a micro budget.

As far as technical camera stuff, Barry Green.

Mark harris
Rodney smith
Marlon ladd
Jasonthewho
Chris Messineo
Michael Horrigan

These guys are my faves and are very influential for me.

RPDM is the film that changed how I do everything.

Ohhh, and Callaghan but that was back in the days when he was on the bottle drunk posting at 2AM. Thanks for the influence Chad! :)
