Which Canon camera for shooting second angle to 5D3? 60D, 7D or other?

Hi all. I am just trying to formulate a workflow for those times when I just want to get out and simply shoot multiple angle interviews. For quickest interview shoots and edits I am thinking of using my Canon 5D3 with prolost settings. Now for a second angle should I go with a 60D, 7D or other? Trying to find a camera that would match colors best and a nice image. Moire shouldn't be an issue as I would use my 5D3 for the wide shot incase there is any patterns in the image and the other camera would be a closeup facial shot. Would appreciate your input. Would also love to see examples of things shot with multiple canon cameras. Thanks. Also these interviews would primarily be for web use.

I would choose the 60D. Having a FF and a CROP camera in your bag is the best combination in my opinion because you re basically doubling your lenses...
Forget the 7D...

A second 5Dmk3 would no doubt match the best.

Of course. But I would only need the second cam for the occasional interview shoot so I think it would be wasteful.

Why forget the 7D lyrov? Cause it's long in the tooth or some other reason? I figured 7D would also be good for shooting fast stills with a telephoto lens (sports)

I said forget 7D because its double the price of a 60D, it doesnt have articulating screen and it has the overheating issue, while the image is identical...so I dont see any reason why to choose it over the 60D FOR VIDEO...
However it has the advantage for stills, so that makes the choice a bit more difficult now...

Thanks lyrov. I will have to read up more on that overheating. I overlooked that. Considering shooting for interviews may mean leaving the camera recording for long takes.

Samir,

I owned a 7D first then a 5D2 came in later and I have used them both in interviews to intercut between wide and medium shot.

Here is a sample.

Each canon DSLR have minute differences in color even among same models.

I made sure I calibrated each of my cameras to match as closely as possible.

I used a color chart and grayscales together and watch out closely for magenta and yellow shifts that affect the skin. Also note that the blacks stay near neutral.

I calibrate via

WB SHIFT/BKT in the canon menu.

That's a good point on the increased range of lenses. I'm shooting a project where I also need a 2nd camera for AB roll interviews. I use a 60D and just added a 600D as B cam because of the additional feature of 3x crop. I don't think there will be any difference with any of the Canon aps-c cameras since they all share the same sensor.

The 600D has one other fantastic feature, the price.
