Which body?

Its obvious buy the GH1 save yourself $200. With the money you can buy something to beat yourself over the head with for making such a foolish decision.

Back up more. It's really not as big a deal as it sounds. I really do like the GH1. It's too bad the pulldown is such a pain in the ass and the codec isn't as robust as Canon's. It's a lot nicer to use, and the recording medium is a lot less expensive.

GH1 if you want HD Bday parties

If you can't get good images out of the GH1, you're not going to get them with the T2i. This statement is ridiculous. I'm so sick of GH1 bashing when there's so much evidence that people who know what they are doing can deliver incredible results with the GH1. I'm not saying I'm an all-out-master or anything, but I know how to use a camera, does this look like an HD birthday party?

This is a teaser trailer that I did up for my cast and crew after a few days of shooting an indie feature on the GH1:

Note, I'm not using the kit lens, this is a mix of Canon FD glass, Zeiss lenses and anamorphic footage depending on the situation. This has not been color corrected yet.

I'm referring to Barry's review, T2i /7D are "film"cameras, ie a lot of fuss but nice picture, and GH1 is a great video camera, just turn it on and shoot, ie situations like a party where you don't have the time to fuss with things beforehand

The GH1 is hardly point and shoot if you want to get great results - in fact, it's probably easier on a Canon if you want to shoot without thinking about it, aside from the GH1s ability to autofocus during shooting with the kit lens, seems much easier to me to make the GH1 look like garbage than a Canon, I think it's a tougher camera to use but I also think it delivers a better 1080/24 image if you do use it right.

I think you need to reread the review, since that's a bit strong of an interpretation. The GH1 feels more like a video camera. The Canon's do not. Their advantages are a more robust codec and lack of pulldown; both of which are great, but will only affect you in certain situations, like high detailed scenes and shots with a lot of color correction. Most high detailed scenes won't even really show it. The aliasing on the Canon cameras include chromatic problems, which can be more noticeable. And obviously the Canons are better still cameras. And the GH1 has superior 720p60.

I own a GH1 and a 7D, and I sometimes use them interchangeably.
