F3: Which bag?

Wondering what bag you use to carry your F3 on a plane with. I've been using the big Cinebags CB for a long while for whatever camera I'm working with and it's great but really pushing the limit on travel size. I was looking at a Lowepro 4000 DV but noticed it wasn't that much different other than width (its actually taller). I need about 16" by 9.5" tall interior dimensions and it will work.

Thanks just picked up one of those today at EVS after trying every bag they had in stock. It has a very cool LED light-strip built in! Actually I think I got the 03 model. I stripped down the F3 package pretty far and it all fits. That huge dual Sony charger isnt easy to deal with though. $195 seems pretty good... EVS likes to match prices with the big guys when possible.

that's a better price than i got it for. and yeah, the light is tres cool.

i have mine configured such that the charger and batts fit beside the camera, with a padded divider between.

if i had to make it more compact, i could take the shoulder-mount off the camera and it would sit lower in the case. and while the case is pretty firm it can be squished and compressed a little if need be to make it fit somewhere. there's room for six lenses underneath the viewfinder, but the case gets pretty damned heavy filled to the gills.

Nice. Yeah weight is a big issue for me. Im trying to make this as light as possible.

(My phone camera is screwed up) Anyway, squeezed in here is the F3 with Sigma 18-35 F1.8 and Zacuto uni. plate with carbon rods, Manfrotto SYMPLA handles, Zacuto shoulder pad with quick rod adapter (tucked nicely under the evf) and Chrz. mattebox. I'll be shooting two more weeks on this doc and want to keep the cam just like this while getting in and out of the car 100 times. I can just throw the box on and go.

The guy at EVS had a good suggestion for throwing my Tokina, Samurai Blade and charger on top of whats there (for travel) ...buy two, small fanny packs which will fit on top given the good internal height this bag has.

The light is too good! Did you use that camera pad on the bottom? Seems like an ok idea.

I use the Portabrace CS-DV4. Compact simple and had no problems as a carry on travelling the F3 with a prime or the Red 18-50 attached plus other gear too. In fact I've even travelled the bag and the F3 with the Sony SCL-Z18x140 18-252mm lens mounted. Protection is ok plus the bag is easier to stuff into overhead bins than more rigid bags.

I try never to use old bags any more, only spry young sexy ones.
