C100: Which 50mm lens?

Hi guys, i have a questin. I want to buy my first (and last for filmmaking) 50mm lens. Im looking something sharp with good contrast when sun is behind object and with low CA (im write it because my 17-55 decrease the contrast when sun is behind and sometimes CA is awful on it) :D

Im working on weddings with Canon C100 Mark I. 50% of time im using DAF, the rest is manual focusing. AF isnt main option for me.

Im photographer too, and unluckily i have Nikon's bodys too (D800, D750)

What you think, which one lens i should get? My priority is filmmaking (for nikkor i can use adapter)

- Canon 50mm F1.8 STM
- Canon 50mm F1.4 (is it sharper than STM version?)
- Nikkor 50mm F1.8G
- Nikkor 50mm F1.4G

Or maybe Canon and Nikkor F1.8? The same price as for one F1.4 lens.

Thanks for help!

I read it in polish canon forum. The noise is real, but someone write that noise is only in manual focus mode. I dont know if with DAF 50mm STM is loud too.

Be aware there are rumours that Canon will soon announce a new 50mm....of course I understand that "soon" and "rumours" may not be enough to tempt you to wait - but this site thinks it might be a while off anyway ;-)

I heard that, but i think it will be overpriced like new Canon 35mm f1.4. I think i will go for 50mm f1.4. I go with used Canon f1.4, and maybe brand new Nikkor F1.8.

Can someone tell me that in real world we can hear that manual focusing ring? And on footage? Is it that loud?

The 50mm 1.8 STM is perfectly usable for video, in my opinion. I've never noticed the sound of the AF to be an issue. It works great with the dual pixel auto focus on the c100. The two more expensive Canon 50s just aren't worth it for video, again just my opinion.

How it perform while you focusing manually?
