Where to find actors in England?

I'm shooting a music video in London in a couple of weeks - it's zero budget so have been trying to get 2 actors for free but so far no luck.
Does any UK residents know of any good sites to find actors willing to work for experience/showreel fodder.

Don't mind paying a bit, but would rather not - no one else is getting paid.
 
try www.purpleport.com photographic models many of who work for free. However some also do acting and video work.

Of course it depends who it is for as people don't like working for free on commercial projects.
 
dont mean to be cheeky but get em fom ireland if you can - did a film there recently - not one person i grabbed off a rutted road was not brilliant in front of the camera.
 
Thanks all - I ended up having hiring a friend of a friend who is a musical performer and actress.
Costing me money, but with payment comes a certain responsibility on their part
 
Hey man, I was looking into the same thing not long ago. I found out that my State has an actors website to recruit both paying and non-paying rolls. The UK is a massive market as well, I'm sure there are many local actors within quite a close range willing to volunteer / get experience. I wonder if there's a similar site like that in the UK, or a craigslist type of site.
 
I've signed up to Shooting People, as I need an actor.
I'm advertising as paying, but only had one response (in London)!

Is it just me, or is this site rubbish?
When you search for actresses, there's only about 35 profiles.

There's hardly any activity on the site!

Gumtree is the UK equivalent to Craigslist, but it's pretty sleazy and untrustworthy.

CastingCallPro turned out to be the site that got me the most reponse - but only because it listed my job as PAID MUSIC VIDEO and not the other important details like, only pays £100, and is microbudget.
I got submissions from actresses from long running TV series'!

Explain your situation..... she might do it for 100GBP just to be helpful! They do some times. Event the Great and the Good sometimes like to go bak to their roots and break out once in a while. Besides she must have liked the look of the project to have responded inthe first place.

For high end music videos from well known high end performers have their people talk directly to the people for the well known actresses... So she must have realised it was not going to be for a headline band.

Nothing Ventured Nothing Gained explain your situation and hope. Besides she might know some one who would do it.

I walked passed David Morrissey (from Walking Dead) in the street yesterday - I should have asked him to do it!
 
So why did't you? That lack of action will haunt you for ever!!! The worst thing that can happen is he says "No!" and you are no worse off. What did the TV actress say? You have replied to her haven't you?


BTW even if they say "no!" now they may remember you next week/month for something entirely unconnected and that is where your big break comes from. Luck is 50% opportunity, 50% preparation and 50% just having the balls to ask.
 
There's a touring show, doing small towns in the UK. 10 people to pay, typical audiences might be 400? £10 a ticket - The actors have a small proportion of the box office available to pay their wages. What made me post this is because I found a very familiar face in the cast. One of those well know faces that pop up in US popular programmes we get to see here. No idea who he is, but he's well established, and he is in a foreign country doing a tour with low pay. So it never hurts to ask - they have mortgages too!
