Where to buy an XH-A1

Before I bought my A1 from buydig, I called Canon and asked if they were an authroized dealer. Canon told me they were. I have received my camera, it was packaged nicely, and no problems so far. The money I saved on the price of the camera will go towards buying a case, etc.

First of all, thanks to all the posters on the forum. I've been using this board as a major part of my research into what camera to get, even where to buy and how much to spend. I just wired the money to J&R for an A1 today and they're promising it to me by Tuesday...so far I'm impressed. Friendly, no hard sell (in fact, my sales person eric didn't try to sell me anything extra) I thought I was outta luck when my bank wouldn't let them withdraw the full amount in one transaction + J&R has a policy where they can't charge in two seperate transaction. I was able to wire it to them, they called me when it came in and I can't wait till tuesday.
-paid 3230...less then what was on their website
-no shipping
-no taxes
-authorized dealer

Thanks to all for your input and I look forward to playing with my new toy and to soon be able to contribute something usefull as well.

-oh yeah, as soon as it comes in, I'm gonna try and use the rebate form someone posted on another thread...I'll let you know what happens

I bought my A1 from newegg (as well as thousands of dollars worth of computer equipment) and they're amazing. My camera is 100% legit and I couldn't have been happier with their service.

are they still doing the $250 rebate or am I late on the news.

From what I'm reading they're not...but as soon as I get mine (Tuesday) I'm going to send in the downloaded coupon...per the coupon, the offer's not expired.

I'll let you know if I'm successful.

As I understand it, Canon decided (presumably at the last minute) not to offer a rebate (at the start of the year), but they did create that PDF and it did wind up on the web somehow.

I don't know if they will honor it or not. I think it would be smart of them to eat the cost and honor it though, otherwise they really would put themselves in an awkward spot (that could generate some bad PR).

Ok...so I dont like buydig.com

Last thursday I ordered my camera through them. I logged into my account on Friday to see how the order was going and there were "processing errors" and that I need to contact customer service which is only open Monday-Thursday. No big deal to wait. Saturday, I got a call from them and they left a message saying that they needed to confirm the order and they gave me a number to call. I tried calling them back only to receive the message "this number cannot be called from your area code"....wtf. So I tried three different phones will all different area codes. Same response. So this morning, I called customer service only wait a total of 45 mintues before giving up and calling my credit card company to put the big X on the order.

So here I am going through a different company 5 days later.
