Ok so I have my F3 kit im selling, but don't really know any good places besides ebay to post it on... Is there someplace better for selling?

I'm trying to figure out where to post it, but not having any luck on a good spot with lots of video people wanting to buy.

Any advice would be helpful!

I do have it up there, but I didn't know if there was a better place, maybe some kinda camera broker or something like that.

Looking to upgrade, I dont really wanna sell it, but right now I'm in a pinch as well. Kind of an "everything must go" sale.

I wanted to start a website exclusively for selling cinema gear, like ebay, but I thought there were enough of these sites around already. Maybe I should reconsider.

There are some brokers who'd probably list it for you, but they'll certainly want a cut. On a Sony F3 I wouldn't be surprised if they wanted at least $2000 of the selling price for their services.

dvxuser and reduser are the best places I can think of for a low fees transaction.

Yes when everythign is said and done on ebay you will be looking at 11% of the final sale price (not 3-5% as advertised) and then another 3-4% if you receive paypal payment.

Ebay is a rip off which is why I would like to launch a cinema auction website of my own. Does anyone think it would catch on and be a good idea?

I think it's a great idea. It would without a doubt cost a good little chunk of cash to get started, I'm thinking 50,000-100,000 to do it right. But if you know someone that can set it up and beta test it, work out the flaws at a lower cost, you could pull it off much cheaper. I know a guy that started action casting, it was around 100,000. plus about a year of hard work behind the scenes just getting it promoted and such. I dont know if it ever worked out, or launched successfully, have never logged on.

Hows the F-35 treatin ya. I love that thing, I was shocked to see them selling around 20k.

Best camera ever. Period. 0 compromises in terms of quality. I tried shooting a short for Warfest but we had to cancel on the last minute.
Since I have 2 lens mounts, I´m having one reconverted into Nikon mount, for more versatility.
Seriously, if you can find one of these buy it, you won´t regret it. Don´t be fooled by numbers and tech sheets (4K, 3 trilllion fps, etc). Filmlook, s35mm, 10bit 444, rock solid --> F35.

Just piping in regarding the camera sales site idea. Don't want this to sound like spam, but if someone is looking to make a site like that and avoid fees, a good transaction service to use would be Dwolla. I use it to pay my rent every month. Transactions under $10 are free and over $10 is a flat 25-cent fee.

It was started by a guy in Iowa because he was pissed about how much credit card companies charge for transaction fees.

I will have to check out dwolla, maybe a good idea to use and promote something like that.

I've already built a complete auction website & engine three years ago and there would be no need to beta test. It took 9 months to build from scratch and has been running online since September 2009 for another niche market/community. It would need some further work to account for a more "global" scale and also some rebranding. The name I had registered when I was thinking about all this was www.cinebid.com

I'm seeing F35's going for as little as $13K. Why?
The image quality is easily better than anything in that price range.

Just have a look at the "what camera's shot what" lists. F35, SRW-9000PL and Genesis were all HUGELY popular for episodic TV and quite a few films up until last year, then the change-over came and almost everything has switched to Alexa (with Epic in 2nd place). The F35 is now 'old tech', that makes it obsolete, so no one's renting them for anything.

Because of that, they have no real commercial value anymore (no one's making money off them anymore) so they're selling very cheaply.

They could still make a great option for an owner-operator though, you're just a lot more limited in low-light shooting than you are with the 2nd-generation large-sensor cameras (Alexa, F3, C300), so you'd probably need a substantially larger lighting kit than you can get away with on the current cameras (which may still make it an inconvenient choice cost-wise for smaller budget operators/productions).

And technology marches on...
