I love you :)

If someone is gonna deal here, they're gonna deal right, and upfront. That's all I care about.

Sorry dude, didn't spot it, here is an excerpt from my mass email:

AGHVX200: $5599.95 Camera only, no P2 cards. This is the standard EVS DVXuser Pre-Order price. This price is for credit card purchases. Paying with cash/wire/check gets an additional 3% discount. Additional $40 discount when any card is purchased.

AGP2C004HG: $624.95 Panasonic 4GB P2 Card. The card price does not change when purchased separately or in a kit, so the card would be the same price when purchased alone or with a camera package.

AGPS060G: $1624.95 Panasonic P2 Store Drive only (60GB Portable Hard Drive). The 60GB HDD can hold the equivalent of 150 minutes of 720p 24PN footage (CANNOT be used for live recording from the firewire port; designed for offline transfer of P2 cards only, by plugging the P2 card into the P2 Store HDD). A continuous flow of filming is achievable by constantly removing the inactive P2 card and dumping its contents into the P2 store, while the other P2 card is recording.

DVXBATT5600: $89.95 DVXuser 5600mAH Battery. (Support the forum that keeps you informed and up to date, by purchasing the DVXuser Battery, the highest true-capacity battery on the market for the HVX.) More info at:
http://www.evsonline.com/merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=DVXBATT5600

CGAD54SE1B: $159.95 Panasonic 5400mAH Battery. More info at:
http://www.evsonline.com/merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=CGAD54SE1B

So a camera with 2 cards via check, $6600 + $65 shipping.

Aren't Battle Royale's a blast?!?! Rush - Andrew, Let me know if anyone needs to tag out.... Be happy to jump in here anytime.

To be honest, as someone put it already, when it comes right down to it what is your priority? Do you want lowest price no matter how long you have to wait for a camera.... do you want to purchase from a box house with no real knowledge of the camera beyond the price and whatever specs happen to be on the computer in front of them.... Do you want to purchase from a local dealer....

There is no right answer for everyone...again, the joy of the free market society we live in. Buy where you feel the most comfortable buying...shoot with the camera that you feel the best with....

CARPE DIEM!!! Just shoot! How many postings have there been debating this camera or that, this dealer or that.... how much of that time could have been spent shooting! As long as it's an AUTHORIZED DEALER make your purchase and then get to shooting and make your money back!

...just my 1.85 cents plus tax....

Thank you Jerrod for maturing things up a bit. It's all about the job, whether you sell the cameras or use them.

Best regards,

As of today, my interest bearing checking account is earning me 4.03% interest. We're not even talking about an investment here; this is a cash flow account...

Why would I hand money over to someone else to earn that interest? This is the hidden cost of doing business with a "deposit required pre order" ... My 0.02.

You get what you pay for. There's no such thing as a free lunch.

My point precisely, wells.

There are lots of questions unanswered as of yet...

I suppose it all depends on the 'deal' being offered.
If by putting $500 down now you can get the camera for $200 less than you would if you waited, well then it might be worth it.

Your $500 isn't going to earn $200 in interest in a few months at 4%

But, overall, I agree with you wells.
Precisely why I withold the minimum from my pay and save what I need to in interest bearing accounts to pay taxes with at the end of the year.

yup true.... but how much $500 is gonna enrich them - a measly $1.65 per month. But that $500 deposit non-refundable clause has a not so good faith ring to it... :) what are they gonna lose if someone gets on the pre-order list free, but doesnt want it anymore? They'd just sell it to the next person on the line.... particularly on a hot ticket item like HVX - they shd sell like hot cakes...

But prepaying the whole amount (~$6k) is a different story altogether... that generates about $20 a month interest. Doesnt make much sense even with the 2-3% discount.

Why?

Though that discount is given with goodwill from EVS - You lose out on credit card benefits depending on which card you use. All my credit cards give double warranty + purchase protection + theft/damage insurance for 3 months and not to mention full 1% back on all purchases.

But kudos to Rush for initiating that 3% off with cash deal... i havent seen that done before.... (I usually buy all my gear from Adorama/B&H)

I've learned not to do business with people that look like they're hiding something. For example, accepting down payment on a product or service and refusing to inform the customer of when they'll get around to it or the anticipated delivery schedule is hiding something.

I'm speaking in general, not about any business in particular, of course.

Thanks red. :) It's the fee the credit card company charges us to take a credit card. So when we aren't paying it to the issuing bank, we put it in your pocket.
