Where is the best HVX200 deal right now?

Green Hornet said:
Ok, so just tell me how I can get it for $5,299?
You say you will match Specialized, and they advertise that price, yet it seems like your out is by saying....."They don't have them in stock, so it reverts back to $5,599". Sounds like you really won't do the $5,299 price, and if you will, then put me on that $5,299 list. I have signed up with you from the beginning. I just want someone who will live up to what they say, without any loopholes.
I think it would have been beter to just have a list with a cut off date.
Early adapters actually get the worst cameras (no revisions done) so they should get the best deals.

Why not give everyone on your list who signs up by friday the $5,299 price and after the $5,999 price.

This has been the same statement I have been putting out from Day 1. It is very clear, and there is no "out". Our price is $5599, if someone else has them to ship that day for $5299, we will match. No hidden messages, no cheating. Our price is not $5299. We are not in the business of losing money, even though others are, but they want other things from you. However, when the time comes, and you find a dealer who has a camera to ship you for $5299, we will match. I don't understand how a mechanism put in place to protect you, Hornet, can be misconstrued to become an "out" for us...

Hello everyone!

In response to some of the confusion on the different deals that are available, I'll just go through our deal again to clear things up.

$500 non-refundable deposit. This keeps our pre-order list “real” with only the serious
customers. If the deal gets better, like it recently has, everybody on our list gets the better deal automatically. If you would like to wait a few months to see what kind of bugs the camera may have, go on the list, we’ll just keep ‘bumping’ your spot (at your request) until you’re ready to buy. You still get the pre-order deal, and get first dibs, as long as you are on the pre-order list!

Pre-pay in full with cashiers check to receive 2% off any package of your choice. If you pre-pay in full and then change your mind, we will refund everything except $500.

FREE UPS or FEDEX ground shipping (INSURED) anywhere in the continental 48 states. All packages are always insured for the total value of contents. Just pay a small
difference if you prefer a different method.

FREE Additional Long Life Battery.

FREE Camera cleaning at our Authorized Service Center within one year. We will be providing a coupon for each HVX200 that goes out so that you can redeem your free cleaning. If you would like to use it to get a free cleaning on your DVX100 you can!

10% off of our best price on the CinePorter™ when it's available.

Deep HVX pre-order discount on Panasonic’s new HD LCD BT-LT1700W priced at $2849.99 including FREE shipping. If you pre-pay for your camera-monitor package, you get 2% off the entire package, in fact, you get 2% off anything in your order, extra accessories and all. NO LOOPHOLES.

Reduced pricing on all AG-HVX200 and P2 accessories including batteries, available with your pre-order.

You’re welcome to go to our website and read our company history to see that, for the past 21 years, we have been taking care of thousands of call-letter television stations and other video professionals. We ship and receive hundreds of pieces of broadcast video equipment each week. Do you really think that we would sacrifice our good reputation on a $5400 camera? Our mission is to get P2 into the hands of every video professional.

Rush and Andrew,

Thanks to both of you for making yourselves available here.
It's great to be able to have this sort of open communication with dealers.... even if sometimes it can get a little rough.

Wow,

I currently have my HVX200 order placed with Rush from EVS.

I am extremely impressed on how professional and reasonable
"BOTH" EVS and Spec-com have been to their customers!

Both companies have really made it a joy doing business with.

Thanks,
Steve

thanks Rush and Andrew for all the clarifications - again, thanks for all the open communications... its a totally new buying experience...!

First it was:
HD100 or HVX200 -
now its EVS or SpecC

decisions.. decisions...!

I totally understand EVS's position - you dont get locked with ur $500, so you pay a little premium... but I wish the premium was $100 and not $200. Particularly in light of SpecCom's 10% off Cineporter (which is another $200+ off)
So if someone is getting a Cineporter - the difference between EVS and SpecC jumps to a whopping $400...

Shipping options seems similar, and so are the other sweetners:
1) EVS's 50% off P2rental v/s SpecC's Free Battery - a slight edge to SpecC as I am purchasing a 4GBP2 + Cineporter - so no rental for me
2) EVS's HVX Club v/s SpecC's Free cleaning - both I dont intend using

But one thing is clear I dont have to lookup at B&H or Adorama anymore...

andrew one question - say I put down a $500 deposit, and wham, Sony comes with a removable lens HDsomething 1080/24p cam in January - is the deposit transferable... ?

or do some creative bartering?
- I buy the HVX, and you buy it back from me at the same price (without even shipping HVX to me), and I purchase another cam in the same price range...(so u make a similar profit) + all cash deal as there is no pesky credit card fees.

or

- If a friend wants HVX, then I transfer him my $500 deposit and he buys it from you.

You're welcome red, I actually haven't had this much fun in a long time

The deposit is a really big deal. Here is what I told management, when someone suggested that here, "We have never done that before, guys, and because of that people trust us. Why start now? It isn't fair to people, it limits their freedom, and we're not about that."

To address your points, you are correct, we are $100 more for the camera. But, we have been serving DVXusers for 3 years now, just do a lookup here on the site, and see how many 1000's of satisfied DVXusers we have served; Lookup other companies here and see how many DVXusers they have sold things to.... We have always been a bit more than some, cheaper than others, but we provide a shooter's perspective on everything, and we don't run you off the phone. We are all filmmakers here, not corporate types, and we go out and shoot everyday with the gear we sell. So you can always call us for lighting/camera advice anytime. In fact I have been teaching production classes for 4 years now all over the LA area.

The Cinedrive, wonderful technology, but it's not here yet. Why not give the $200 savings off the camera? It's the same amount of money, why wait? Sell the camera for $5199. Same thing, right?

Rentals of 4GB cards. We ship these. These are the only things we ship, and only to forum members. True these are primarily for local customers, who just want an extra card for 1 weekend, and want to spend $30 only. But local customers are half our queue so that applies to them very much, and you'd be surprised how many people don't want to buy cards, and only want to rent one for a shoot where the client is paying for it.

Thanks again for your feedback, keep it up :) Someone like you just got a lot of people free fedex shipping with insurance from their provider, and you never know, maybe now the deposit goes away too. :)

Wait a minute, I'm still trying to process what greenhornet said. What 'worst' cameras for new adopters? Panasonic is going to make crappy cameras off their production line and then start making them better after they realize there was a hampster caught in their lens making gears?

Were there issues w/ the dvx100 after it was released? Like, were the 24p delay problems when capturing published and recognized by panasonic before hand?

Sorry rgd, this is for a whole 'nother reason that I'm posting. One of my customers just called me and literally asked me to post this, since he said it wasn't clear:

If you prepay the full $5599 for tax reasons, and we end up matching for you at ship time at $5399 because another authorized dealer has them ready to ship right away to new customers, then you will get $300 off to use for other accessories. 100%. Just because you prepay doesn't mean you get stiffed on the $300

PS, anyone can call me for their place in line, or PM/email me. I am a bit backed up, but I'm on the forum all weekend, and I have a copy of the list with me. :)

Awe competition, thats why I love America. Redindian brought up some valid points. Both have good deals. I'm actually on Rush's list because as he said, his history dealing with the DVX was very good and I saw that first hand. But its also good to see comparative options available to folks on this forum. One big question for both, say I have several filmmaker friends who intend on buying HVXs and lets say they rely on me as to where to get the best deal. Will either explore the option of a finder's discount on top of the actual forum price? Email me private to discuss. Thanks.

Hallelujah! God Bless America is true! I don't think they should let me have this much fun at work. A leash is in order

Hi Ernest, no reason to PM, I want this public :) After the pre-order phase is over, I will do a $75 gift certificate for anyone bringing in new new orders at the non-preorder forum price of $5799, or non-forum price of $5999, after the order is completed. Go get 'em tiger!

DVXusers pay $2775, as one did just yesterday. C'mon Andrew, change the site

Just for you and only you Rush!

$5599 + $65 shipping = $5664
$5399 + FREE shipping + FREE Battery = $5399

Difference of $265 not $100.

FYI, we never mentioned insurance before because that is one of the assumed luxuries that you experience when dealing with us.

so rush, let's say another dealer has them available and shipping but their batch goes to preorder customers. does that qualify for a price match? after all, they have it available and are shipping.

Ah that lingering question. Andrew, I mean you have a lot of unanswered questions here. Or is the lower bottom line the only answer?

The DVXusers are your customers, not me, why not concentrate on their questions. :)

As far as assumptions go, that is not what pro's do. Pro's don't assume, they want facts, now they have your facts. Yesterday, free UPS ground with full prepayment. Today, Free fedex with insurance. Is that with full prepayment or just on any order? I mean if you hang onto someone's $7000 for 5 months in your savings account, yes you could make enough to give free shipping...

Let's see what more Spec-Comm can do now.

What happens if someone wants their money back? After full payment? After deposit?

Also, what about the cinedrive? I mean, if the bottom line is your saving grace, why not do the $200 savings right now? Why make people wait for that discount? It's the same thing, now or 4 months from now...

How many cameras did you order? How many people on your list? If someone calls you can they get their number without paying upfront?

Cheap / Fast / Good, pick any two. Yes, Spec-Comm is cheaper :)

Hi boo, if I call and you because your camera is ready to go, and you say you can go to Samy's right now and get it cheaper, and that checks out, I will 100% match it, down to $5299. There are people doing preorders for way less than me. Who will actually have cameras to sell?
