Where do these ... come from?

Someone had a listing looking for a videographer, so I sent them my usual cover letter and resume, my resume containing, among other info, my equipment list.

They responded simply, "have to have a 1080p camera," to which I responded, "Yes, my equipment is in my resume, I do."

They then said, "when you send me the info we can move forward." Mind you, they've been sent my equipment list twice. Other than reading for them, there's nothing more I can do to make it easier. So, I spelled it out plainly and politely.

"Hello again. My resume is in my original email, which is at the bottom of
these correspondences.

My camera is a Pansonic HVX200.

My resume online: (link)
"

These are the only emails we've exchanged, him asking twice for my camera info, which I've sent three times, including the original email.

He just responded. "we are going to pass on you. following instructions is important, you seem not to be able to do so."

Well, better you found out now, rather than later (like after a shoot or in the middle of one) that these people are complete stooges.

Why exactly are they "douchehats" for a simple miscommunication?

I don't consider NOT reading the same, basic, information three times, and then treating someone like a child for your own repeated mistake to be a "miscommunication." There's no "miscommunication" here, I couldn't be clearer unless I went to them and read it for them aloud. Their patronizing attitude is just ridiculous.

Communication problems are often two-way streets. Often, when you send something out and get a reply for clarification, what was sent wasn't enough info for the person reading the email. Whether or not it is negligence or ignorance on their part, simply blowing it off to them as "I've sent that already" is not going to make a good impression on them.

But, hey... it's better not to get a job working for some one with whom communication is going to be a challenge. I've been in that situation, and it isn't pleasant.

If you're going to react to someone in the way you have because they didn't respond the way you wanted, you're in for a tough future.

You responded to their listing, they didn't seek you out.

They're offering a job, it's up to you to get it.

You didn't.

Deal with it, calling them "douchehats" only shows your lack of professionalism, which seems to need a bit of work.

All of the information is here; I didn't leave any exchange or content out. I answered with "yes, my equipment is in my resume, and it is (1080i)." They asked again, and I PLAINLY stated, "hey, it's in my resume, but here's the info anyway."

I simply COULD NOT be any clearer. Other than padding it with excessive politeness, there's little else I could have done differently. I DID answer them, repeatedly.

React like what? Giving them the information they asked for multiple times? Boy, how wrong of me.

You answered their listing, they can say no for whatever reason they like.

Deal with it.

Thanks. You don't have to respond to my threads with argumentative posts, either. I think I'm through responding to you, as well. You're always aggressive and deliberately attempt to re-phrase my posts as if I've accosted someone and treated them harshly. You seem to have a definite inability to distinguish between the way I speak to people professionally and the way I feel about them personally, and thus present those encounters, names and identities removed in respect of their privacy and putting a divide between professionalism and private opinions, in the company of fellow filmmakers. You might want to see to that.

Not attempting to be confrontational with you, just letting you know, if you always take such aggressive issue with my posts, it might be best if we avoid eachother. I don't post in your multitudes of threads for a reason, and I'd almost appreciate it if you treated mine with the same dismissive respect. It's easier to avoid you than add my two cents and know you'll want to be combative over it. It's just not worth my time.

More looking down your nose at me and treating me as less significant, intelligent, and experienced. And yet, still avoiding the point of my response. That's fine. I'd prefer not to speak to you anymore, I think I've been polite and made myself clear. I won't be goaded into another urination contest with you, thank you.

You'll be on my block list in the future, thanks for responding.
