when will they stop making dv tapes?

I know no one can tell for sure but what is anybody's best guess at how long mini dv tapes will continue to be made- with all the new tapeless cams I'm wondering if/when the tapes will either stop being produced, or become much more expensive.

long long time considering its digital and secure

people have been saying film is dead for decades but its still going

They still haven't stopped making 3.5" floppy disks, or VHS-C tapes. Why in the hell would they quit making DV tapes?

My guess: They will continue to be made LONG after they're relevant.

Certain VHS tapes are just now starting to be harder to find, I believe they've stopped manufacturing it. At our store we sell thousands of mini dv tapes a month. I would guess that you have another 20 years on the short side of MiniDV manufacturing.

they are still making floppy discs?!?! I mean, I see the argument for film, vhs-c, dv tape and all that, but FLOPPIES?!

I still use floppies for certain applications. Floppies are handy because they are cheap and rewritable over and over again. Just because something uses an older technology doesn't mean you just throw it away.

I also have a Panasonic VHS-C camcorder that works perfectly and we still use it for birthdays, Christmas, vacations, etc. Why not? If it works, use it!

no offense implied, believe me. I just didn't know they still made floppy drives. Haven't been around a windows machine in ages :)
