When will Panasonic start selling the GH1 body only?

I really need a second GH1 for my type of work. But buying a second 14-140 lens is a waste of money...

The price is great BTW... imagine how would cost the body only option...

Buy it and maybe try to sell the lens? Or hunt around online for someone selling the body? Or get the Japanese version with Japanese menus and use yours as a point of reference?

Good luck!

too bad the only place I could buy is B&H (because of a special shipping method to Brazil with lower taxes that only B&H has)

But I like the idea of selling the lens online, at first I thought that would be dificult to sell it, but I´ve seen some on Ebay selling easily. So, that´s the way...

thanks!

What? Mine has been up on ebay for 8 days now, no bids, at $675. And, I don't really see anyone selling it for any cheaper. Ugh.

cuz everyone seems to know that it's the "gh1 kit lens"....B&H selling it for as much as they are is inane....noone truely knows the value of the lens. if i owned a camera with a m4/3 mount that wasn't a gh1, i would never want the lens....but with my GH1, i LOVE it and i'll never sell mine.

in australia they are selling the body only now but at $1500AUD you might as well just buy it with the kit lens overseas..ha what a joke.

I was in the same boat. I bought the GH1 Kit with the 14-140. I put the 14-140 on Craigslist for $650. No takers. I was getting worried. Then I found a GF1 owner who wanted to trade his 20mm 1.7 pancake for my 14-140 (plus $325 cash from him). I thought that was a fair deal so I went for it. I thought about putting the lens on Ebay, but now it seems there are even some for $600. BTW, I got my kit through Amazon warehouse for $985. It came minus the hood, but with a Sony hood (that didn't fit), some Tamron lens directions, and some Ikea hardware! Amazon refunded me an extra 10% because of the missing hood, which I bought from Panasonic for $20. Bottom line, it's harder to sell that 14-140 than I thought. But in the end, it worked out great for me.

Keep in mind however that the 14-140 lens is very special (one of a kind so far I believe) in that the aperture opens and closes to any fraction of a stop - and that is why it is so much better for video. Only with this lens will the exposure steps be smooth. I understand that this is why it is also so quiet and so expensive - though seemingly not widely appreciated.

After using a 5Dmk ii as long as I could bear it ... it is because of this lens I may buy a GH-1.

Yeah, I would avoid doing Buy It Now or high opening bids. Regular auctions often end at prices higher than Buy It Now. This is because of human psychology, which leads to bidding wars...

I bought an open box GH1 for AU$1900 ($400 cheaper than average retail) and sold the kit lens for AU$800. So all up I was much better off than buying the body only, which is actually closer to $1700 everywhere I've seen it.

Do you know where can I buy it in Los Angeles? my aunt is going to LA and I'll try to buy it and ask her to bring it to Brazil.

Ebay will be dificult because they will not send the camera to a diferent address than the one associated to my paypal
