When to expect a 5D Mark IV price drop

Can anyone here make an educated guess based on Canon's history of when we can expect a price drop for the 5D Mark IV? I'm really considering purchasing this camera... but I don't want to buy one and then it goes on sale over the holidays. How long did it take before the 5D Mark III got a price cut?

When one looks at the current discounts and packages offered, the "real" price is ~ $3,100, which is significantly less than the original $3,500. I don't expect it to drop further for a while, as Sony hasn't been releasing a slew of new products either.

OP - if you're in the USA - I have an extra, practically brand new one with C-log for sale for a great price (if interested, feel free to PM me).

CPW. Canon Price Watch has the most up to date pricing from reliable sources. I've purchased quite a bit through them and it is a great service.

+1.

They also have a price history graph on the site for many Canon items. Let's you know when to generally expect price drops. 'Street prices' are solid deals.

Switzerland here: I want to sell my unit (5D Mark IV with Canon Log) after my fathers 70. birthday family gathering on the tenth this month. Overkill for a Wannabe Filmmaker. If you are in the area, you can have it for 3K CHF plus shipping. Original packanging, almost three years of Swiss Guarantee and printed Canon-Log Manual. If interested, write to pascal@parvexfilm.com

Hey guys, thanks for the info! Canon Price Watch is definitely a great tool to see history of prices.

As for purchasing one... I'd like to buy it brand new, thanks for the offers. If I change my mind, I'll let you know.

Seems like the price always drops AFTER I buy something.... :Drogar-Angry(DBG): So fear not! I Just purchased a 5D4, so once I am out of the return period I would anticipate a precipitous price drop! BTW... had it a few days now... intend to use it mostly for stills (I'm set up pretty good on the video cam side) and I'm pretty blown away by the IQ, as in WOW, HOLLY $h!t. Seems like the price only drops a few hundred bucks at any given time unless it's getting discontinued. The 5D4 is still current, so seriously I wouldn't expect any deep discounts but sometimes the usual on-line big players load the deal up with "free" accessories so that could help soften the blow.

If you don't mind an imported version, you can get one on eBay (brand new) for around $2300 sometimes. That is the lowest I have seen them there. Currently, it looks like they are going for around $2500. [Again, an imported version which is the same exact camera sold in the USA unless it's specifically noted as the PAL version. Some cameras are world cameras. Warranty is different, of course.]

Just thought I'd update that I did end up purchasing a 5D4 from B&H during the Black Friday Sale. Basically got the battery grip for free which is great because it's not a cheap accessory. So far I'm loving it! This camera seems to get a lot of hate from indie filmmakers but I've used it on a few jobs and it is a joy to use. It would be tough going back to something that didn't have DPAF. The only thing the 5D4 seems to lack is good low light (if you were to compare it to A7s ii or GH5s). The file sizes are kind of annoying but I'm blown away by the quality. Honestly it's just so much more fun to operate this camera which is something a lot of people tend to forget about when they get lost in "specs".

I just ordered a 5DM4 last week. B&H is going to open the box and install the battery into the camera so it can be shipped over to Japan. I hope the low light is close to the 6D that I'm using now for astral time lapses. The added resolution will be a nice bonus, and I'm counting on the 4K video looking better than my HD from 6D. I considered the Sony A7s/A7R cams for low light but read too many mixed reviews so decided to stick with Canon dSLRs for now. I paid full price and also got the battery grip because I expect it to eat batteries faster than the 6D. Yeah, the grip is too expensive for what it is, but I'm loath to stick a 3rd party knock-off into this camera, or the knock off batteries. I actually tried putting off the purchase but I have the Ramper Pro intervalometer and it makes use of the PC Sync jack on the camera, which I then realized my 6D was MISSING! So, had to get the 5DM4 at that point.

It's a great camera. And I don't think low-light is bad. 6400 ISO was always pretty usable for me.
