It will be sold by the time the HVX comes out. That is how I am paying for the HVX. Besides the HVX still can shoot mini-dv 16:9 aspect ratio and probably more resolution. I hope they at least match or better the resolution than the Canon XL2.
I suspect many of my clients will still want me to shoot the DVX. It's smaller and lighter than the HVX and overall a better choice if your final project is 4:3 SD. And a good deal on mine still are.
Plus it makes a great behind the scenes camera for the movie shoots!
I'll probably be using a 35mm lens adapter so not only will I not be able to afford an HVX, I doubt I'll be able to use one so well since grain will appear much more clearly in HD and these adapters would comprimise the resolution.....I'd have to upgrade my computer, too.
I'll stick with the dvx and wait until next generation, but if I had the money and were to buy an hvx, I'd probably keep the dvx for b-reel. Multiple camera shoots are coming back into style!
Talking about movies more than TV shows. Certainly they were the norm in the late 20s and early 30s as sync sound was being developed, but it was only with Kurosawa that they really came back into fashion and even after that only a few directors relied heavily on them. Nowadays, with huge budget films, they're back in style. Gladiator used like 7-8, Spideran II used more than a dozen cameras I think. They're nice for fight scenes and chases, although I don't have the budget to orchestrate either.
If I did have the money for a HVX, sould I sell my DVX before or after, because i heard the prices would either go up or down in the dvx. OR, i might be thinking of when the 100b comes out?
Well after the HVX comes out, I'd doubt the DVX prices would go up. Maybe down, but maybe stay the same. So, warranting any other information, I'd sell before.
