To all of you canon owners I am writing my experience last night trying to recover erased footage from a CF card. I feel it might help people like me who might be in a situation where their card got corrupted or they had a hard drive failure and need to get back their footage.
Honestly last night until 5 am I tried at least 10 different softwares which are supposed to recover files from CF cards of hard drives and I didn't have any luck at all because they seem to not understand the canon way to make quicktimes. All the quick times retrieved where corrupted and useless.
So this morning, in a last attempt I used Cardrecovery and the software has been able to understand the way Canon stamps his quicktimes on the card. The recovery software retrieved 90% of all my medias!!!!!!!!!
It saved my last project and my credibility towards my clients.
So anyway that's my grain of salt for today.
BTW: I look back at tape workflows and it's the thing I miss the most. Having a backup of the rushes all the time on different tapes from the moment you start shooting. It's a lot more stable then using CF Cards and Hdrives.
