F55: When is FS7 section coming? Please.

I find the abundance of R&G shooters using the FS7 really don't fit into the same kinds of questions and issues as F5/F55 users. For that reason, alone, let's separate these out. My comments and questions re:F5 gets lost in the deluge of FS7 users. Give 'em their own space so they can go about their own business without muddying up the waters for other users. It's not as if they can't look in this forum to their hearts content, nor visa versa. But, lets keep things somewhat organized rather than this 4K free for all.

To be honest I am much more interested in the likes of the F5/F55 owners or DPs who have invested than ENG shooters or owners who have moved from smaller sensor Sony cameras.

The problem with the FS7 is that a lot of optimum operation have been sorted out by F5/55 users who have been slogging through Slog workflows and Sony luts. The only thing the FS7 shares with the FS700 is the E mount. In all other ways the operation and usage are closer to the F5.

Either way I think it needs its own forum as it will bury the F5 specific content and I'm sure a lot of F5/55 users feel like they went back half a year talking about the same stuff as us new Sony users wrap our head around the techincal stuff.

It's great they had lots in common for FS7 users to benefit from F5/55 users but the party is over. Time to part ways and go home.

If initial FS7 were originally posted in another section, knowing that it's close to F5 / F55 I would have still posted everything I have already

Anyway, can a moderator please give an update on this? Really, it's been 3-4 months now.

They definitely have super35 in common but when people need help or want to get into discussion the commonality is always going to be the camera model.

I want the FS7 to get its own section, but if not, at least add the damn prefix for now.

The prefix is now messed up already for over three months of posts.

Why is this taking this long to address is what I want to know?

yes plz separate section for FS7/700 , its now almost impossible to go over the post to find something about F5/55! it should not be this way!

Sony has already divided the cameras to groups, F and FS so why not just do the same and place that fs7 to fs group.

To my knowledge fs700 has s-log2 as does fs7, they both have zoomrockers, integrated evf:s, they both have tiny batteries, incamera iris control, just to list a few similarities on fs7 and fs700.

F5 & F55, no evf, no mic, no zoomrocker, no incamera iris control, modular, v-mount battery, SxS, pl-mount, center scan, switchable olpf, just to list again a few similarities

LOL! FS7 users are desperate to stay with F5 and F55 to feel high end or what? It is clear it belong with other FS cameras.

FS name: check! E mount: check! Small: check! Cheap: check! Consumer media: check! Lower quality RAW: check! Plasticy: check! Cheap LCD monitor with tube in place of real viewfinder: check! Need contraption to record highest quality: check! Welcome FS700 younger sister! :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

Belong to FS section.

F5 and F55 need a contraption to record the highest quality. No need to to be antagonistic.

I couldn't give a toss about what I appear to you and whether I appear high end because of the camera I decide to discuss on an internet forum.

Serious? F5 and F55 need a integrated recorder and it become part of camera. Not contraption.

I know you will talk about 7Q but is not integrated and don’t pretend you don’t get my point please.

I couldn't give a toss about what I appear to you and whether I appear high end because of the camera I decide to discuss on an internet forum.

So why fight the obvious? FS7 is FS camera and belong with FS100 and FS700.

Because you are needlessly antagonistic and rude. I fail to see how the 7Q is not relevant to the conversation when it is a totally practical and less expensive solution than the Sony, plus provides an excellent monitor too. Your attitude is like that of a carpenter looking down his nose at colleague for using a cheaper hammer without looking at what he built with it.

plenty of reasons for the Fs7 to be in this section or that section or a new section and most are worthy of conversation or debate, but it must be a very insecure person who doesn't want a camera in 'their' section because of the construction materials of the casing, the size or the weight.

There's some very good, logical reasons why the FS7 needs to go in its own section. Please don't let this thread degenerate into a bunch of trivial and immature name calling. Perhaps the FS7 should be grouped with the FS700, much in the way this is an F55/F5 section. Shooters in this section are, generally, different than those shooting FS series cams. Not better or worse, just a different market segment, different kinds of problems, different needs. You FS7 guys have completely swamped this category with unrelated issues and comments. It's time to put you in your own category.

Belong to FS section.

Compared with the F55/F5, the FS7 stacks up very well:

Picture quality same (or close enough that the human eye cannot differentiate between them)check! More ergonomic: check! Viewfinder easily maneuvered according to the needs of the user or replaced by OLED if LCD is not good enough: check! A quarter of the cost (or maybe less) than a fully outfitted F55 with viewfinder and decent lens: check! XQD G series cards (at $800 a pop) hardly fall in the category of consumer media: check!

Just because a camera costs more doesn't de facto make it better as far as image quality goes. IMHO the FS7 is just another example of the evolution of technology - either better or at least equivalent to more expensive alternatives. I wonder how many people would opt for the F55 if both models were introduced concurrently and they went down the specification list item by item?

I really could care less whether the FS7 is listed under the F55/F5 section - I think that it really should have its own section so that people can freely discuss all the various aspects of the camera.

I don't think I'm a different type of shooter than a regular Joe F5/55. I don't think the like of Jason Wingrove and the many others who offloaded larger high end gear in favour of something small, compact and easy to lug around are either to be honest.

As I said earlier in the thread I liked the idea of an S35 section as I feel a lot of people are striving for the same qualities from their images, but it doesn't matter as long as it has a home somewhere.

I just want the prefixes fixed if nothing else!

Feel sorry for whoever is going to have to go back through 4 months of posts and correct them.

This is an idiotic thread . Obviously the camera shares something with both lines - image, codec & menu with the F5 & lens choice & rigs maybe more with the FS line. Overall more with the F5.
Should probably have its own category because its taking up so much room though and making it hard for F5 /F55 owners to have a conversation.
