T2i When I turn my cam on it clean sensor

Before I did the firmware update from 1.0.6 -to- 1.0.8 it worked fine. After the update, every time I turn on the camera the first thing you see is "Cleaning Sensor" and then the LCD goes black. You have to press a button for the menu to turn on. Before, it went straight into menu. I never had this problem.

Is it supposed to be like this, or is there something wrong?
Its getting very annoying having to press a button to turn on the menu.

I'd rather it clean the sensor when I turn it on than turn off, since to change lenses you turn off, change lens, (Which is when you're most likely to get dust on the sensor), turn on (Get rid of the dust) shoot.

I had this happen a couple times but all i did was remove the battery and put it back in and it worked fine.
Its been going on for a long time now. I tried everything.

Well, the good thing is, it cleans the sensor when I turn it on, and off.

It is strange. I upgraded, same as you, and not a problem.

However, I have the clean sensor option turned to off in the menu.

hmmm. neither of ours will stop cleaning the damn sensors when they turn on either; this started happening maybe the 10th or 15th time they were turned on. i tried everything; firmware, removing batteries for a day, trying to disable sensor cleaning, manually cleaning sensor before turning them off... still they do it on startup EVERY time.

i dont need them to clean the damn sensors; we RARELY change lenses, and in 7 years with DSLR's, ive never had a damn dust problem.

is cleaning the sensors that often a bad thing or something? why would it be a prob if it does it everytime?
