When Filming Skating

Hey fellas. I film skateboarding and there are a few unwritten rules that apply. OIS is on for long lens with auto or manual focus. When shooting with a fisheye, OIS off and manual focus only. Always have the skater in front of you as much as possible to stay away from ass shots. copy and paste the link on the bottom to see my skate promo that was shot with a Sony vx2000. I got my fish for my 100b just this past Friday so DVX skate footy will be up soon.

This is generally not true for fisheye lines. You want to be rolling exactly parallel to the skater, facing the front of him, not facing his back (it is doing this that will give you butt shots).

Oh and Bobby that montage was great, the skating was excellent.

I dont agree with shooting infront or from behind. If you are filming a line then you will be behind him. Say no to the death lens and yes to the semi-fisheye, the distorted inch away from the skateboard or bike look is gone.
