whats your thoughts on this 35mm Adapter

Looks cheap and bad.

If you're a beginner in filmmaking then don't buy a 35mm adapter.. invest in audio or lighting or just a better camera.

There is always the option of renting an adapter. I agree with Thomas, if you feel the need to buy something get good lighting or audio. There is no point to have really pretty shallow depth of field shots if you it is just a dark picture.

Also.... keep in mind you get exactly what you pay for. If you buy the cheapest.. you will get exactly that. The cheapest one.

There is something to be said for a simple adapter without a flip module for the HMC though, it saves a lot of weight and cost and the HMC has the screen flipping feature so all you have to do is flip in post which is easy.

i have lights and audio, Jus ordered my Audio Tech AT875R from B&H

I jus wanted to sell my D90 and replace it with the 35 adapter so i can get the same DOF quality with my HMC.

yeah i was lookin at the M2 or Letus35 also.

I would save up for the 7d if you really seriously want a depth of field look.

Someone recommended to me the GH1 from Panasonic over the 7D. I'm considering having a GH1 on my shoulder as I film weddings; then whenever I have my shot set I would sneak around and get some great DOF footage. I guess the bonus of the GH1 is that it will film for 1/2 hour -- far longer than the 7D.

I'm no expert but I've used the 7d a bit and I gotta tell yah.. it's just an amazing amazing camera. Plus Canon has the best lenses.

given the $199 pricetag- the demo videos of the adapter don't look too bad. But I agree, good lighting and composition will do more for a cinematic look than a 35mm adapter. A good mic, tripod, lights- these should have priority.

DOF is but one of many camera "tools"- and IMO its overrated. People who want it so badly that they are willing to spend more than a good video camera, and give up the advanced manual controls and pro audio features just seems crazy. Funny how most of the videos I see from these VSLRs don't include "live" production sound. But this old news- sound has always taken a backseat to image during filmming (my younger self included). The whole GH1, 7D craze- unless you need an slr camera, it seems financially wastefull.

Well.. instead of buying a GOOD 35mm adapter.. I'd buy a 7d. The cheaper 35mm adapters simply look like you stuck a cheap 35mm adapter on your camera. It doesn't really blend with the image and enhance it.. it looks like you stuck on a filter or something.
