F35: What's your preferred color program or plug-in?

There seems to be a fast growing color-grading/plug-in market out there and it's becoming overwhelming for me. I was wondering if people using the F35 and coloring their own stuff could post their fav. color program and/or plug-ins on their NLE. Examples would be great. This would be a good thread to have as a reference for people considering investing in something like Scratch or Impulz or Speedlooks, etc. Also, what grading monitor works for you?

My colourist has always used Resolve for my F35 stuff, as for monitoring he does it on a proper calibrated projector and screens (not sure what kind). I have a much more modest setup at home, with the free version of Resolve and my Sony 7" OLED.

Oh yes I am completely for and have participated in pro color-grading sessions but for testing our own approaches and smaller projects I need to move into something decent soon. The last thing I did on my own was with "Color", which works fine, but its almost too outdated at this point, even for me. Plus I have a ton of issues with it adding gamma shifts when exporting. Im so tired of software BS like that!

What sparked new interest for me was actually Jo Kami's short film that he used Scratch on with ACES. That is the exact color direction I want to go in on the next shoot.

My main NLE is AVID and I always found the built-in colour corrector for that was excellent, they didn't support plug-ins until recently however there were never enough things released for S-Log in my opinion. S-Log 2 and 3 have been much better supported by Sony, probably because they learned their lesson with S-Log 1. I haven't touched colour in years but I never liked how poorly it was integrated with FCP, which was part of the same "suite". Probably better now, maybe not, even the people I know who swore by FCP abandoned ship with X.

Well ok so nobody else uses any programs.

What about log vs a flavor of 709 gamma setting? Does anyone here not shoot log?

For a workflow based around one person both doing production and post production I think that Adobe CC offers a pretty compelling and effective way of working with grading. And the latest update seems to build even stronger towards this:

1. Apply LUTs directly in premiere for edit.
2. Send whole timeline with one click to Speedgrade for further editing.
3. Send whole timeline to Audition for audio mixing.
4. Send portions of timeline to After Effects with dynamic link.
5. Latest update includes lumetri grading inside premiere with new scopes, LUT-support and such.

For me and because of how quickly I need to work this works very well for me. I also think premiere has gotten a lot better to edit in recently.

Other than that I use Impulz LUTs and macgregors cineon and 709 LUT for slog footage.

A few samples of what I shot recently can be seen at:

i shoot rec709 quite a bit on my F35. Usually because I am passing off the footage to others for post who want to do quick color in final cut or premiere. I've started shooting with the MLUT burned in over the Rec709 Hypergamma settings, colors seem to pop a lot more with the MLUT.

There was a company, Light Illusion, they did a series of Gammas which I used for my F900. They also did them for the F35 etc...

They are great because they offer about 20 gammas, from a fairly mild 709 curve to a full flat Cineon one. Their "megagamma" curves were great, they offered fairly REC 709 shadows with more log-like highlights. You could choose between five different steps depending on the dynamic range in your scene too.
