GH2 What's the minimum focal length of a lens to cover the GH2 sensor?

I thought an MFT sensor was 17mm in size, but the camera comes with a 14-40mm lens, so shouldn't I see some vignetting on that?

Or do you have to double the focal length of a lens for an MFT camera, too? So 14 becomes 28?

17mm is about the size of the sensor. Focal length is a totally different measurement unrelated to sensor size. For instance, lenses for 35mm cameras can be focal lengths of 8 or so, and lenses of focal length 50mm or more made for a smaller sensor (16mm, 2/3", etc) can still vignette on m43.

A 14mm lens is always a 14mm lens regardless of what camera is wearing it. Crop sensors like m43 crop a selection from the. Enter of the image circle, and yield an approximate angle of view, in the m43 case, of a lens 2x the focal length on a 35mm sensor.

Sensor is 17.8mm wide, somewhere around 21mm diagonal, but that doesn't matter when it comes to focal length, as mcbob said. The Lumix 7mm lens easily covers the entire sensor.

I use my 6.5mm Opteka and 10-24mm Tamron K-mount lenses on my GH2 with an adapter that I also use on my Pentax K-01 with larger APS-C sensor so the FL is not the problem you just need lenses that have an image circle to cover the GH2 sensor. The Sigma 12-24mm zoom covers the FF sensor like the Canon 5D and Nikon D800 .
