What's the difference between the HMC150 with the gray LCD and the one with the black

Basically i want to know if there's any difference between the HMC that has some gray on it around the area where the LCD monitor is as in this one

I'm just wondering if this a model change and black one is the newer version and if this affects the camera at all since i like the kit with the gray a bit more merely for the price difference. thanks in advance and i would really appreciate it if i can get an answer soon since i want to purchase this asap, as in by tomorrow i only say it in case someone looks at the thread and chooses not to answer, please do.
 
It's the same camera... it's just the way the light hits the camera (different lighting)

BUT maybe if there is a GRAY one it's because of "GRAY MARKET" (bad joke)

plus one is in black and white except for the word AVCHD, photoshop anyone?

The grey one, i believe, is an older HMC150. It is, in fact, a different (although how different i don't know) camera.

Sorry i can't be of more help other than to weed out false information.

Older HMC150 eh? Well I got my hmc a few months ago and I have the 'grey' one.

Im pretty sure Superfresa66 had this right with the lighting and photoshop combination. You can clearly see where the grey starts on the 'black' one. The color curves have been messed with to make it more suductive :shocked:


Anyone notice the bottom one says "DVCPROHD" ? eh?

Sorry for the bad information, Can you show me a link about this info you got... it's kind of interesting to see what they changed.

In the pictures even a few words are a little different, and the switch on the handle (by the mic) is in one but not the other!!!!

I feel like we're playing "Where's Waldo" =)
 
Could have been one of their beta models that are floating around... Or like I said - it could be the 3d/photoshop model.

Anyone have the 2nd one? Both of ours are the top one... Which this guy claims as the older one.


update: Looking closer I dont think ours look like either! We have no top switch (its on the other side) like the 2nd one - also the back menu is like the 1st one...

Seriously - where is waldo??
 
Mine is neither one... Mine has AVCCAM in the LCD not AVCHD!, also mine doesn't have the switch on the top handle on the left side IT IS on the RIGHT!... even the little "RIBS" on the mic, mine has less than the ones in the pictures!... and some of the text on the camera controls is a little different!

One thing i forgot to mention was not to buy the HMC150 from the Evil-Bay... they're in stock at other places!

It never hurts to walk into your closest dealer. Also - that graphic above is totally thrown together because the camera doesn't do DVCPROHD.
 
Absolutely a bad idea to buy from eBay. The DVCProHD logo is only the first clue.

For a few more dollars, get one from a dvxuser sponsor instead.
 
thanks guys this is something that was really confusing me so i called B&H and they never heard of a "grey" one or whatever. Basically there's only one from what they told me and i just figure whichever one i get i know the place that's selling it only sells US standards, i called them today so i know that im good. thanks guys i appreciate it.
 
OP: Why are you establishing your notion of HMC facts by what some no-name ebayer has put out as advertisement images? It's like if I saw a cell phone image of a new Jaguar model... with its red paint tinted slightly blue due to the the cellphone's crappy white balance and now I expect that new Jaguar to have a blueish red coat!?
 
all those camera powersellers on ebay are trash. DO NOT BUY FROM EBAY.

There have been extensive complaints about people receiving the wrong camera and wrong lenses in those bundle packs. If its any indication that they have no clue what their doing and are selling to uneducated consumers it would be that poor dvcprohd photoshop job as others pointed out and the fact they supply you with MINI DV tapes when you purchase the camera.

I have the grey hmc that says avccam and just purchased it last month. :)

just go with a dvx sponsor (as someone else already said) or shop Sammy's or bh.
 
Yeah my LCD is a little gray in the right light. Mine says "AVCCAM" on it.

While we're on this obscure subject, am I the only one who's just a tad disappointed that it isn't labeled "HD" anywhere on the body? ;)
 
Both cameras look to be the same. But the AVCHD logo is wrong and should be AVCCAM.

I agree that Panasonic should have put a HD logo somewhere!
