What's an AF100/101 worth now?

I'm going to put one up for sale here in the UK, but I'm struggling to work out what to ask for a one year old example.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Ben.

Well for starters, I recently purchased the updated model brand new for about $2900 USD.

And I've seen the old models going for $2600 new on line.

Wow, $2600 new? At the low end in the states, looks like about $2100 on ebay, and $2800 at the top. That's for used. Lots of people bundle with gear though, to get the price up.

Ebay is one way to establish prices, craigslist is another. Not everyone wants to deal with the hassle of shipping and long distance unknown buyers/sellers. Of course, CL prices are all over the place compared to Ebay because there is no bidding... you can get some real deals through CL. Here in LA, I've seen AF-100 with like 200 hours for $1900 cash. But this info is only relevant to local conditions - check your local gumtree or whatever CL equivalent you have, in addition to Ebay.

The price of the AF101 in the UK has tanked. I saw a few on ebay , low hours great condition with additional batteries and other bits sell for less than 1,600 GBP. I was planning on selling mine, but saw no point in giving it away for less than half what I paid for a year ago. I'd rather keep it. But if you are selling I'd say £1,600 - £1,800 (at best) depending on condition and extras.

Seems to be that way with sooooo many other camera platforms... I've seen FS100's for $2500, of course F3's have plummeted... Canon C's have even dropped (of course, for how dearly they were priced to begin with, who can tell?). Last week I saw a 5D3 body sell (quickly) for $1800. Depreciation is so mad these days, you really have to put these things to work early and often to have any hope of not going underwater on it quickly, and chasing the snake of yearly incremental upgrades only seems a recipe for bankruptcy.

I paid 2500 euro for a used Af101 with accessories about a year ago (sourced via adverts.ie website) and am still happy with the deal I got.

I see them go for around 2000 euro on ebay ireland and adverts.ie now. In fact, I think I saw one advertised on ebay today for 2900 euro for an af101 bundled with the lumix 14-140 and the 7-14 lenses. Underpriced, imho.

Best of luck with your sale.

Just like to ad that my AF101 is worth $7.805 a month in jobs :)

Nice!!!

I bought mine in February from Adorama used with 49 hours and it was just a demo unit most likely. Looked completely new. It was listed for $3,150 USD. I asked them if the $250 update had been put on it already. They didn't know, so they took $250 off the price and I got it for $2900 plus $30 shipping.

I know I could have gotten it a bit cheaper on Ebay or from someone on this site (with extras). But I got the protection of buying from one of the top industry companies without having to worry about scams. I was able to buy it with Paypal's Bill Me Later service with six months no interest. And when it arrived and didn't have the shotgun mic holder with it, I asked them if they might have it around or were able to sell it to me at a discount and the next morning they sent me a response with a tracking number for the part, no charge.

I like B&H just fine, but Adorama was such a lovely company to deal with, from talking to people on the phone, to email correspondence, their fast shipping (orders before 8 pm get shipped that day), and taking care of me with the discount and the part. So they are now getting my business instead of B&H.

So I could have saved a couple to a few hundred dollars, sure, but I feel like I got a spectacular deal.

Depressing!

Unless you're trying to pick one up cheap! I'm hoping to pick a couple up at rock bottom prices to fill out my second unit crew....

Video cameras are poor investments for resale value (as in eventually all of them drop like rocks) in any case. Compare that to lenses which tend to hold value (if not go up in price), and you can see why I never get too attached to any one model of video camera.
