I have an indoor 2 person interview to film.

I have a Rode videomic. I want to get an h4n to feed the sound into. And place it on a light stand in the middle of them both. The microphone will be out of the shot. About 12 inches a way. Will this give good sound. I only have one shot to get this right.

I don't have a boom person to hold a microphone. It's just me.

I've researched this question and the answer seems to be have the boom person move the mic between the both. Dream World.

Also there is a Q & A from the audio members to the interviewees.

How do I handle that? I'm using the h4n so do I plug in another microphone. I'm willing to buy another $200 mic for this purpose.

Thank you all in advance.

can you lock off the camera and work the boom yourself?
can you not rent a pair of lavs? that'd probably be about $50 or so...

worst case scenario just split the difference with the rode on a stand. i dont think the video mic is TOO directional...

You've posted this in the Audio forum, and have gotten plenty of help in there.

POSTING:
Before you ask a question, please do a search. We have an enormous amount of content and there’s a good chance that your question has been asked before—probably several times. Take some time to look over the different topics and find the ONE forum that best suits your question. Posting in inappropriate forums makes extra work for the moderators and you may find your post moved or deleted if you didn’t post it in the correct forum. Also, no crossposting--please only post your question in a single forum. Lastly, please keep threads on topic. Off topic posts make searching more difficult for other members and dilute the useful information on the site. If your post has no relevance to the original thread topic it may be deleted.
