The GH2 won't slip into my pocket and I don't want to be one of those guys with a Canon/ Nikon logo on my hip. It just yells mug me in my native city. I hate bulky bags as I'm a causel shooter. Its my hobby and I don't take it to seriously so I don't need space for 5 lenses and tons of accessories. I just need space for the camera with a lens and maybe a 50mm F1.4 primer lens and a RC car battery pack.

What are the off the shelf solutions for a quality nondescript bag?

Does anybody use a satchel with say foam lining to protect the camera body?

For a while I've put the camera just in a bagpack buffered with a folded fleece on the bottom. But sometimes I forgot the camera was inside and dropped the bag too roughly. I now bought a Crumpler Muffin Top 7500, which is probably too big for you but perfect for me. Fits GH2 with say 4 lenses, flash, and gorillapod. For you just take a smaller size. Really good comfy bags.

i picked up a thinktank case for my GH1 with 14-140.

think i'm going to just buy a The North Face backpack and kit it out with some foam and dividers, i cycle so a swinging side bag is useless, two straps feels good.

+1 on the Think Tank Bags. That's all I carry these days. Great stuff.

Specifically, I use the Urban Design 50 v2.0 to carry my two GH2s, a mess of lenses and accessories, and my MacBook Pro. Killer bag.

Do you guys ever take your cameras out when your just going to the Gym, shopping or going for a drive?

I find there is always something worth snapping or filming so the bag I want should be light weight and not look like a camera bag.

For back packs I go with the military ops line.

The military ops bags are very unique and perfect for me (I live in nyc). You don't even know they are camera bags cause they open from behind.

Crumpler and Think Tank both make low-profile bags that don't look like camera bags. Both of them make very good stuff but it's not the cheapest.

Alternately you could pick up some foam dividers and put them in whatever bag you want. Or just wrap the camera up in something like a head scarf.

My camera backpack is an Ogio Atiba Mini, but I am also looking for a smaller camera and three (including one on it) lenses around town bag so if you know if a good one I'd be happy to hear it as well.

I use a lowepro altus 120. Fits my 50mm f1.8 and panny 14-140mm lens. Bought it very cheap too :) It does look like a camera bag but it is very small and its easy to whip out the camera.

Im using a Crumpler 7 million dollar home -- great bag. looks like a messenger bag and is quite discrete.

Mine is a lowe pro. Currently the following are in the bag, canon 50d body, tamron 17-50mm, canon 70-200, canon 18-55 and panasonic tm700. The hood of the lenses are there too. It's still got room. I love it because it's a backpac.

I have 2 bags.

An old compact camera bag. Big enough to carry my wallet, phone, filter wallet, gray scale & color chart, GH1 + lens. This is my run-n-gun bag.

A sling bag from Lowepro. Big enough to carry all my "photography" equipments. Lighter tripod. Good for hiking.

I would need a big bag to carry all my videography equipments. rig, preamp/mixer, mic, heavier tripod. More room for future purchases. LED lights, wireless mic, matte box. Good for paid work... one day.

I have a little purse-sized made-in-China bag with a little fake Panasonic badge on it. Got it for $17 on eBay. Here's a pic

The photograph is a little misleading, because it can't really hold all the junk that's pictured, but it holds enough: the GH2 body with a Konica 40mm "pancake" mounted on the camera; the 14-140mm with the factory lens hood, the Zoom H1 recorder with mounting hardware & cables; extra battery & charger; and the Hoodman LCD shade.

And it's small enough to take with me everywhere I go (small enough not to count as a carry-on bag on an airplane).

Sadly, can't find a link for it on eBay right now.
