What to do to test a laptop and P2

Hey guys,
I have decided I am just going to sell my Duel Adapter that I just bought and get a PC laptop to capture the P2 card instead. So, when I go to look at these used laptops from guys on craigslist I am going to bring a P2 card with me. I have never done this so what is the process. I want to put the P2 card in the computer and see if it is going to work before I buy it... Can someone walk me thru what I will need to do once the P2 card is in the computer.

Copy everything to a hard drive preferable external so you can test the transfer on your own system- pretty much that simple.

Understand that it's not going to work unless you install the drivers on that laptop first. You'd have to download and bring the drivers with you (on a CD or something) if you wanted to do what you're talking about.
 
the drivers are downloadable from panasonic's website or do i have the installation cd with the items included with my camera purchase?
