There's a band's performance in this video that I'd like to copy as far as the look goes but rather than wait until the day I need to shoot my video I was wondering if any of you have mimicked this look before and can tell me the shutter speed its shot in.

I'm assuming the effect is done in camera and via shutter speed if it's not please let me know how it's done.
Thanks any feed back would be appreciated.

thanks Derek, I thought it would be closer to the 500 range, I'll have to try it out with one of my kids 1st I guess just to see how it looks.

That video was NOT shot with a high shutter speed.

Do you know how it was done ?

I don't see any visual evidence of 'high shutter speed' in the first minute I watched -- in fact the complete absence of the staccato strobe effect in the drumming sequence almost guarantees that the video was shot in 60Fps with a 1/60 shutter speed. I wouldn't even guess at it having used a '180 degree shutter' -- it looks to me like the sort of smooth motion you get with 60p and 1/60 of a second. Basically the reverse of the effect you'd get with a high shutter speed ...

To me that looked like 30p at 60th maybe 120th of a second. There was still motion blur all over the place where as at 500th of a second the vast majority of it would be gone. I could be wrong, but I doubt it.

Edit: Those DVX videos are most definitely shot are higher shutter speeds.

Thanks for your input guys, I was and I still am under the impression that its not shot just regular out of the camera. It is pretty clear as far as motion in the footage goes, so that suggested to me that the shutter is being used. You normally get some sort of softness in the footage much like the rest of the footage. The bands footage and the rest of the video looks distinctly different in my opinion. I've shot auto racing before and used 1/250 and you get a pretty close match but it still has some strobing in the footage unless you slow it down. I was trying to avoid a lot of testing but I guess I'm going have to go that route.

Thanks

FPS seems to be 48, rather than the usual 24... and the shutter speed is quite high. i would venture to guess it to be 90 degrees, doesn't look like 180.

but I could be wrong..

I felt there was some shutter used in some of the shots and it looks like it might have been shot in 70mm especially the shots behind the crowd which adds to the high shutter look. THX guys I'm hoping to run a few test this weekend and this will at least provide a starting point. I appreciate everyone's feed back.
