What question can I ask to piss off a Canon rep?

I'm just taking a few classes at a local community college and there is a Canon representative coming soon to speak to us. What question can I ask him to piss him off? I know I'm asking him if the 1DC and 1DX hardware are the same

Way to much hostility these days for no apparent reason. Important life lesson here "you might try treating others like you would want to be treated."

I would imagine he's already pissed off for having to waste his time talking to unappreciative community college brats.::grin:

Having repaired equipment and computers for years. Almost every company makes stuff with the same components for different price points. CD player and printers were my favourites.

I advise you point the anger elsewhere. A few years ago the folks at Cinema5D started a movement to call Canon's phone lines every day and ask for a 24p update to the 5DII. There were doubters, but we all stayed strong and you know what eventually happened. We certainly pissed off a few Canon representatives along the way, but in a positive way.

If I could talk to a Canon representative, I would want to know if the smart f**kers that put the video in the 5DMKII got a raise, at least!

When I was teaching in college, I'd spend a lot of time and effort getting guests in - which isn't that easy, because very rarely do they directly get much out of the visit, so very often it's goodwill, sometimes of the company, but usually of the individual. Having to apologise to them when a student gave them a hard time was sadly a frequent thing. Students who knew nothing about the real world, and failed to understand that the visitor will have very little power representing the company, and doesn't deserve flack for giving up their time. The sort of things you are talking about are completely out of their control, so why are you deliberately planning to give them a hard time? Surely you should be planning to actually benefit from the visit - not planning to act like a journalist?

If you disagree with their company ethos, then talk to the executives, not somebody who thinks they are coming to give the students useful information.

When my students showed me up in this way, they got the next day, the treatment they deserved for not respecting the intention of the visit. I doubt very much than Canon called the college and offered the visit, more likely the other way around.

Sorry Victor, but your plan is shooting the wrong person and not what students should be doing - UNLESS your teacher agrees you can do this in advance, and this person will be thinking about the chances to get the rep back in next year, which will evaporate if you upset them.

I've done plenty of training here in the UK for teachers, and most are brand new teachers, really in need of the information - but a few are old lags who sign up for the course to moan and groan about certain features. They spoil it for others, and do they think I can really do anything about policy? Nope - they just enjoy a fight. Inside, I simple tag them as annoying, disruptive big-headed idiots - and as their views are worthless in the actual situation we're in, what exactly was the point?

well that was boring - I was looking forward to having a laugh after reading the title.

how about - would you guys have bought out the c300 if it wern't for Red & Black Magic?, arnt you just playing catch up?

I also thought more of a "having a good laugh" thread when I read the title - maybe this should be moved to the Café...?

Here's a thought…

Why not ask a really smart, insightful question that helps you cultivate a relationship with this Canon rep? Better to have him remember you as a thoughtful, interested aspiring professional than a whiny douche-nozzle. :D

yeah, this was all in good fun but people take it too seriously. Thank you for this question though. It'll definitely be something I asked.

This thread is definitely exposing peoples ages. Lets have some respect for peoples professions. Even sales guys. I'll be honest and say that the title of this thread did irk me but I hope we have steered it to something positive.

+10,000. "good fun" or not, if you're intentionally setting out to make someone's life less pleasant, for no valid purpose, well, I mean, I'll leave the rest unsaid.

Be a force for good.
