Ive tried messing around with the Syncro Scan and cannot for the love of God figure out what its for. My video looks exactly the same no matter what number I put it on. Help?? Thanks!

Syncro Scan allows you to compensate for differences in the scan of the camera vs. scan of a video source in front of the camera. Ever point your camera at a TV or computer monitor and see the lines that constantly drift from top to bottom? Syncro Scan is there to fix that.

Ahh, got ya. So I point the camera at the TV, then I just the syncro scan until the flickering is gone? So its only for my personal use and not whats going to show up on the video, or is it to fix the actual recording as well? Thanks!

You have to change your shutter speed using the shutter and speed sel buttons to be set to the syncro scan speed before you'll see any difference in your video. The syncro scan speed is located between the slowest and fastest shutter speeds, and it'll have a decimal point in it (so, something like 1/24.3 or 180.0d).

The adjustments made go to tape. Otherwise, it'd be kind of pointless, eh? This allows you to shoot people sitting in front of a TV, or at a computer, with the now clean screen in the shot.

Ahh, got ya got ya! Real good stuff. Thanks!

I'm not completely sure on this one but I think it also fixes the problems that come with shooting under certain fluorescent lighting, where the camera will sample different colors from the light due to an ever so slight difference between the frame rate and the frequency of the light.
